Chamonix Mont-Blanc is a valley that extends over 16km and is home to the villages of Servoz, Les Houches, Chamonix and Vallorcine. Nestled at the foot of the famous Mont-Blanc at an altitude of 1035m, Chamonix is in a appealingly location on the French, Italian and Swiss border. The valley can be easily reached in one hour from Geneva international airport (Switzerland) or in 30 minutes from Italy (Aosta Valley) thanks to the Mont Blanc Tunnel. Chamonix also has a train station that allows visitors to reach the town directly from other French and European cities. Discovered in 1741, by two English explorers impressed by the icy landscape and striking peaks which dominate the valley, Chamonix was soon known as the Alpine mountain destination not to be missed. Chamonix therefore quickly became a popular holiday spot and land of experience for wealthy visitors who wished to observe, discover and experience the mountain. In 1786, an expedition led by the mountaineer Chamoniard, marked the ascent of the highest and most mythical of European mountains, Mont Blanc (3807m). From this day onwards, the mountain experience has become a profession, a sports and tourist activity with the creation of the oldest guide group on the upper slopes at Chamonix. The history of the mountain was born. In 1924, Chamonix organised the 1st winter Olypmic Games and became "the skiing and mountaineering capital". Open all year round, today the Chamonix resort welcomes visitors from all over the world and offers an unusual sight for a mountain town that provides all the modern comfort of an authentic Alpine valley.

A view of the Mont Blanc that will leave you breathless and an unbelievable variety of slopes are awaiting you at the Chamonix – Mont Blanc ski area ! Skiing is possible from mid-December to mid-May (depending on the snow conditions), mainly on slopes above 2000m with great quality snow. For those who are keen on new experiences, there is the Vallée Blanche off-piste route on a glacier in the Mont-Blanc massif (equipment and guide recommended).
