Resolutely family, the seaside resort of Tarnos is inviting you to discover its splendours, from its sublime coast to its preserved natural sites. To discover it at its best, nothing beats opting for a hiking or cycling tour, at your own pace and according to your desires. The environmental heritage of Tarnos is of exceptional beauty: the Garros pond first of all, is one of its most beautiful jewels. With a surface area of more than 22 hectares, it reveals to its visitors an amazing fauna and flora, with many protected species. Easily accessible from the rue de Saint-Martin-du-Lac, it is the ideal place for a walk. Take the time to stroll in the park of Castillon classified as a "remarkable tree-lined complex", in the sector of the Barthes de l'Adour, in the Modern Dunes or in the wetland of the metro, particularly known for its rich and varied biodiversity. Are you a cycling enthusiast? Tarnos has nearly thirty kilometres of cycle routes, which connect the different districts of the city with a few pedal strokes. The 10 km long "Voie Verte des Barthes", the trail of the Forges de l'Adour massif (2.1 km), but also the marked trails of the Vélodyssée will be perfect for family excursions. From Tarnos beach to Ondres plages (6 kilometres), from Tarnos beach to Labennes beach (10 kilometres), or from Tarnos to Capbreton (20 kilometres), you can discover all the splendour of the Landes coast. The largest pilgrimage route in Europe, the Santiago de Compostela routes also criss-cross the municipality of Tarnos and most of the Landes seaside towns, from Sanguinet to Bayonne: not being reserved only for pilgrims, these routes will offer you pleasant walks punctuated by unforgettable panoramas on the coast.

The coastline: this is Tarnos' other asset. Absolutely magnificent, it is punctuated by fine sandy beaches, ideal for idleness. First of all, La Digue beach is the very last beach of the Landes: bordered by a seawall from which you can observe boats returning from fishing and the neighbouring Basque Country, this family beach is a surf spot recognised in the region (and the Landes has a plethora of them!). The Metro beach is also frequented by water sports enthusiasts, since it also has a very popular surf spot. You can swim there, take a break from the sun, or learn the pleasures of water sports: scuba diving, kitesurfing, sailing, paddle, canoeing... You can also count on the diving and surfing schools to give you lessons to improve your technique!
