Province Murcia
The region of Murcia is on the Mediterranean coast and is privileged with more than 3000 hours of sunshine every year. Its capital of the same name is a university city and its sights include a tall belfry and a magnificent cathedral. The city of Murcia also possesses extensive parks and gardens. Cartegna is the region's second largest city and Spain's first naval port. It has a Roman Theatre that is worth visiting amongst other Roman remains. Lorca, a medieval town, must be visited for its famous castle. Another major and unique attraction of Murcia is the Mar Menor 'Small Sea', the largest natural lake in Spain and the largest salty lagoon in Europe. Owing to its monuments, gastronomy, historical heritage and festivals, Murcia is a constantly developping tourist destination.
