In the heart of the Savoie, the peaceful resort of Plagne Center rises to 1970 meters of altitude. Created in 1961, it is the first resort in the large domain of La Plagne, an ambitious project that now includes several coveted ski resorts. Modern and dynamic, it is here that most of the shops and services of the domain gathered. Plagne Center also has funiplagne, a funitel that connects skiers and pedestrians to the site of Grande Rochette and allows access to other villages around such as Champagny-en-Vanoise.
Thanks to its strategic position on the ski area, Plagne Center is the ideal resort for winter sports enthusiasts. Skiing is still the main activity of this family resort which is easily accessible from the other villages of the Plagne. With Moonlight Ski you can even experience night skiing on the blue slopes. Supervised by ski school instructors, a unique descent on the dark slopes will allow experienced skiers to discover new sensations. Beginners or non-skiers can also take part in this unique experience thanks to the 'taxi-ski' service accompanied by one of the instructors. Before the descent, a tasting is offered to leave the full belly : wine and small sofas, traditional raclette, homemade dessert, genépi (local liquor) ... A few savors of Savoy that will make this moment even more magical. And if this is not enough for thrill seekers, do not worry, the resort is also famous for its paragliding flights. You thus overlook the domain in complete safety to see the mountain landscapes from a new angle.
Plagne Center is also the starting point for many snowshoe walks that take you to the bottom of the Savoyard mountain. To go even further, go on a snowmobile tour after the trails close with an experienced guide. The course of more than 10 kilometers promises a real change of scenery with stunning views of the resorts around.
Finally, go to the Grande Rochette site, perched at 2500 meters above sea level, to fully appreciate the beauty of the summits. A 360° panorama of the whole valley is revealed from its heights. Once up there, do not hesitate to have lunch at the "Chalet de la Grande Rochette", a unique mountain restaurant. Comfortably installed on the terrace or huddled by the fireplace, you will taste the great traditional dishes of Savoyard cuisine in an enchanting setting. Special mention for the colossal Chalet burger, filled with reblochon and candied onions...

Beautiful resort when you ski... However, this year it lacks infrastructure: beginner lift mats close between noon and 2 so when you take lessons and they stop at 12.30pm, you have to go up on foot... Few restaurants offer food delivery and few shops are open... we can quickly be led to turn in circles.

Unfortunately, because of the Covid, we did not have the opportunity to appreciate all the richness of Plagne Centre.

Super restaurant "L'Estaminet" in Macot-la-Plagne : welcome and dishes at the top. We do not recommend "L'Avalanche", its owner is unpleasant.
