Listed as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France", Saint-Cirq-Lapopie impresses with its magnificent medieval heritage. Nestled in the heart of abundant nature, this little corner of paradise is the ideal place to put your suitcases if you love history, adventure and hiking.

Overlooking the Lot valley and its meanders from its rock perched at an altitude of 389 metres, the village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie is one of those authentic and preserved little places that the Lot seems to jealously guard. Classified as a Historic Monument, this village has fascinated its visitors for centuries, whether they are poets, writers, artists, pilgrims or passing travelers. Particularly photogenic thanks to its old stone houses with brown tiled roofs, this Eden, set in the greenery, will reveal its remarkable heritage to you as you stroll along. Its streets, formed by high fortified gates, are dotted with beautiful 12th century houses and magnificent arcades with shops. What to see? Located at the bend of a paved alleyway, the Gothic church of Saint-Cyr is a must! Built in 1522, it impresses by the remains of its decorations, carved with acanthus leaves (12th century), as well as for its sublime wall paintings. The Porte de la Peyrolerie, the Place du Sombral, the Maison de la Fourdonne, the seigneurial fort, the Rocher de La Popie (the highest point in the commune), but also the Château des Cardaillac located near the church, the Maison Daura, the Musée Rignault, the Porte de la Pelissaria, the street of the same name or the Place du Carol and its garden are among the sites to be seen during your visit to Saint-Cirq-Lapopie.

A stopover on the Santiago de Compostela route, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie is a favourite site for walking enthusiasts and great adventurers. There are many routes accessible from the village, starting with the very popular "Chemin de halage", dug into the cliffs below the village, which will take you along the banks of the Lot and through the forests towards Cahors. During the summer, you can also take a trip on a gabarre on the Lot to discover Saint-Cirq-Lapopie from the meanders of the river. On foot or by mountain bike, you can also reach the neighbouring village of Cabrerets, which is home to the famous Pech Merle Cave: with its paintings dating back more than 20,000 years, this ornate cave is one of the oldest in Europe but also one of the most beautiful present-day witnesses of prehistoric cave art.

Finally passing through Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, take the opportunity to discover the most beautiful cities of the Regional Natural Park of the Causses du Quercy: Rocamadour the greedy and historical, but also Gramat, Padirac and its legendary abyss, Montfaucon clinging to the cliffs or Lacave and its caves are all places inseparable from the heritage of the Lot, to visit absolutely.
