In the heart of the triangle linking Valence to Montélimar and Gap, the small village of Recoubeau-Jansac takes place in the magnificent department of the Drôme. A land of escape and outdoor leisure activities, this little corner of nature will win the hearts of holidaymakers looking for a break from the big city.
Recoubeau-Jansac is the ideal destination for stays far from the beaten track. A dozen kilometres south of Die, the village is actually a medium mountain commune, perched between 474 and 1297 metres above sea level in the middle of lush green valleys that you will rarely get to see. Enjoying a Mediterranean climate above all, Recoubeau-Jansac can be visited all year round, offering its visitors a whole range of magnificent landscapes to discover.
With the Provencal Baronnies to the south, the Vercors to the north and the Hautes-Alpes to the east, Recoubeau-Jansac, in the upper Drôme valley, is a huge open-air playground for all nature and adventure lovers. Hiking is the favourite activity of travellers passing through the area: thanks to a wide network of marked itineraries, you can discover the rich biodiversity of the area around Recoubeau-Jansac and the beauty of its preserved environment. On foot, but also by bicycle for pedal aficionados, you will first discover the calm and splendour of the old village, which houses some interesting sites to visit such as the castle of Recoubeau and its four corner towers, redesigned during the 20th century, but also the site of the medieval castle of Jansac, unfortunately destroyed in the 20th century. If in the summer, horse or donkey rides are also possible, in the winter, you will have to put on snowshoes to climb the mountains of the village! Winter sports enthusiasts can also head for the resorts of Lus-la-Croix-Haute, Valdrôme and the Col du Rousset to indulge in the joys of snow sports, less than 45 minutes from Recoubeau-Jansac.
Please note that the commune is crossed by many waterways, including the Drôme, whose wild banks will be absolutely perfect for your hiking sessions in the heart of summer. You will be able to refresh yourself in the river, although swimming is not supervised (so stay vigilant), or even to fish in it because its waters are full of fish. For a supervised swim, head to the Recoubeau-Jansac open-air swimming pool for a few refreshing swims with a view of the mountains. Fans of nautical activities? Head for the nearby town of Châtaillon-en-Diois to embark from its nautical base in canoes or kayaks to discover all the splendour of this pretty corner of greenery by force of arms. In Die, you can also go canyoning on the Drôme, opt for climbing sessions, water hiking, tree climbing with the family in a huge arboretum, in short: enough to satisfy little adventurers and the curious!
