It is in the department of the Pyrénées-Orientales that is the small seaside resort of Torreilles. Its wild and preserved beach attracts many visitors every year, in search of authentic holidays, under the sign of nature.
A real little corner of paradise between Canet-en-Roussillon and Le Barcarès, Torreilles is one of those charming Catalan villages where life is good. Located not far from the Spanish border, on the Mediterranean coast, this charming city marked by history will conquer you with its small medieval streets, its traditional houses made of pink bricks and pebbles, its small secret squares and its magnificent chapel of Juhègues. Its altar, its Romanesque remains and its centenary plane trees make this chapel a perfect place of pilgrimage to escape the sometimes crushing heat of Roussillon. The priory of Llobet, one of the most imposing mansions in Torreilles, is about twenty minutes' walk away. It is the Catalan bourgeois house par excellence, with its pink bricks, its vaulted rooms, its wide staircases, and its orange-tinged inner courtyard.
The large beach of Torreilles is a real natural jewel in the heart of the Languedoc Roussillon coast. Stretching over 4 kilometres, the beach of this "Green Station" is divided into three distinct parts. Wild, the North beach extends over several kilometers. You can practice many water activities, such as windsurfing, kayaking, paddle, water jump and kitesurfing. The green Mediterranean moorland hidden behind its dunes contrasts superbly with the blue of the sea and the blond of the sand. Do not be surprised by the presence of blockhouses dating from the Second World War that still exist here and there on the beach : these remains are stone witnesses of the history of the region. Reserved for swimming, the beach Centre is the main beach of Torreilles. Preserved by the Conservatoire du Littoral, it is the favourite place for families and children who can safely play in the water and on its wide expanse of fine sand. Nestled in the heart of the "Camps de la Ribière", its wild seafront inviting to calm has two restaurants, as well as a path that will allow you, on foot or by bike, to reach the South beach while enjoying the magnificent preserved coastline of the town. The southern beach of Torreilles extends over several hundred metres. If the right part of the beach is reserved for naturism, the left part is a family paradise. Its wide sandbank is bordered by a wild nature, free of any urban construction. Here, you will have all the freedom to choose where to put your towel: unlike most seaside resorts on the coast, the beaches of Torreilles are not crowded, which makes them all the more attractive. During the summer, you can participate free of charge in multiple sports activities : muscle strengthening, aquagym, volleyball, walking in the water... A tonic way to start your vacation days.
There are many walks in the area : you will repeatedly have the opportunity to get lost in the apricot orchards, artichoke fields and reed beds that surround the city. Torreilles and its coastline are crossed by many mountain bike trails, such as the "Naturavelo" and the "EuroVélo 8", a route along the Mediterranean that will allow you to discover the different seaside resorts of the region.
Finally, after a game of petanque in the shade of secular trees, take the direction of the beach to sit down. The restaurants on the seafront are run by the inhabitants of the region : one eats a tasty cuisine, with the local colors, and very often around the fish. The season of the apricot, Torreilles' flagship product, will not be missed by discerning gourmets in July : its juicy flesh and good sweet taste can be enjoyed in pies, ice creams or jams. Olive and artichoke are also indissociable treasures of the local culture, on the menu of many addresses of the commune.

We loved the pizza truck "Tropic Pizza" at the exit of the campsite, as well as the ice cream shack nearby. Markets every morning nearby as well as Luna Park in Barcarès for the greatest pleasure of children. Many quality restaurants, do not hesitate to look at the reviews on the internet.
