In the heart of Normandy, between Cabourg and Deauville, Houlgate certainly deserves its nickname "Pearl of the Côte Fleurie". With its superb beach, its magnificent seaside architecture and its extraordinary softness of life, it offers the assurance to spend unforgettable holidays.
Bordered by the impressive cliffs of the Black Cows, Houlgate beach invites you to enjoy a unique natural setting. Ideal for relaxing and swimming, it offers many other activities. Within the nautical base, you can take sailing, windsurfing, paddle or kayaking courses. But you can also practice kitesurfing, water skiing, wakeboarding or fill up on buoys, sofas or towed bananas. Your children will enjoy the many activities offered by the beach club and can also learn to build and fly kites.
After having enjoyed the beach, discover the fabulous heritage of Houlgate. An old fishing village, the resort developed from the middle of the 19th century and its monuments reflect the styles of that time. Enjoy, for example, the splendid Grand Hotel built from 1859 and the Casino Belle Époque, on the seaside. Then take the discovery circuit proposed by the Tourist Office which will allow you to admire the sumptuous villas of the city but also the Landry mill, the Saint-Aubin church and the William the Conqueror Column which symbolizes the place from where the Duke of Normandy left to conquer England.
Several other hiking trails will allow you to visit Houlgate and its surroundings. Take the path that leads to the geological site of the Black Cows cliffs, which has fossils over 150 million years old. Discover also the Sea and Country itinerary which will lead you, through the beautiful auger countryside, to the magnificent Beuzeval manor house, built on the site of an old medieval castle and now located in the heart of the Houlgate golf course. After your walks, treat yourself to a gourmet break to taste the many local specialities : coquilles Saint-Jacques, sole normande, omelette Vallée d'Auge, camembert, livarot, pont-l'évêque, fondue and tart normandes, cider, calvados...

Houlgate top, life is strangely cheaper than in the other cities nearby. A small brasserie where everything is good and cheap around the corner near the beach and the casino. A nice little local cinema when it rains. And free parking in this city, the only one we've done where it's free.
