The 16th century Romanesque church made of red bricks and the Vicomtal castle are a must during your stay in Roussillon. With its thick river pebble wall, round towers and keep, this castle is one of the oldest buildings in the city.
Labelled with the Blue Flag, the beaches of Canet-en-Roussillon have what it takes to seduce holidaymakers, fond of idleness and swimming. In all, 9 kilometres of beaches will allow you long relaxing sessions under the Mediterranean sun. Its calm shoreline and shallow waters make it an ideal destination for a family vacation. The Marenda beach and the Grand Large beach are perfect for children : close to a mini-golf and a playground, families can spend long afternoons in peace and quiet. Away from the road and the town centre, the south beach is certainly the wildest in Canet-en-Roussillon : unsupervised, it is also one of the most pleasant in the resort, except on windy days when the sea is sometimes very rough. In the early morning, we advise the joggers to go on the Promenade de la Côte Radieuse for a quiet jog with a view of the Pyrenees. To fully enjoy the beauty of the Catalan coast, board a large catamaran from the port of Canet. During a 10-hour cruise that will please young and old alike, you will bathe in superb coves, and you will go to meet dolphins and whales that come to swim off Canet-en-Roussillon.
In addition to the sea, Canet enjoys the presence of a body of water on its land : Canet's pond. This magnificent lagoon in which is reflected the snowy top of Canigou is really worth the detour. A favourite place for ornithology enthusiasts, it is known for its fishing huts and exceptional landscapes. You can observe purple herons, pink flamingos, and kingfishers nesting on the shores of this body of fresh water at different times of the year. At the edge of the pond is also the castle of Esparrou : hidden in a wood, this magnificent building of the XIXe century of neo-classical style is worth the glance ! It can not be visited, however, you will have all the leisure to observe it during your walks.
After visiting the surrounding vineyards, take a wellness break in one of the city's spas : relax in the outdoor jacuzzi of the Flamants Roses thalassotherapy centre, and enjoy the hammam and massages at the "Spa Sothys" to fully relax.
Finally, at nightfall, Canet-en-Roussillon will dress up in its most beautiful attire : casino, slot machines, restaurants, bars and other nightclubs will punctuate your nocturnal outings during these holidays in the sun.
