Proud small village with a marked Catalan identity, Latour Bas Elne is only 5 minutes from the most beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean. Located 10 kilometres from Argelès-sur-Mer, 15 kilometres from Perpignan and about 20 minutes from the Spanish border, Latour Bas Elne is the ideal place to visit the Pyrénées-Orientales and the most popular seaside resorts in the region.
Nestled at the foot of the Albères, between Elne and Saint-Cyprien, this commune with a strong historical past attracts many holidaymakers every year. You can visit its church of Saint Jacques de Latour Bas Elne: an old defence tower from the 13th century, this building was transformed over the years thanks to the construction of chapels (in the Middle Ages) and the installation of a bell tower. True witnesses of the past, you will still be able to observe today small openings in its red stones, which turn out to be ancient loopholes.
On the sea side, head for the beaches of Saint-Cyprien to enjoy the legendary sunshine of the Catalan coast. Located near the market, Rodin beach is known for its famous volleyball tournaments and for its family atmosphere: young and old can spend long afternoons on the sand, absorbed by a good book or by the construction of ephemeral castles. A meeting place for windsurfers, the "North Beach" is one of the most beautiful snow spots in the Occitanie region. Located not far from the "Trocipal Golf", amateur and experienced athletes will be able to kite-surf and windsurf at leisure. Every year in September, this beach also hosts the Kite Festival, an opportunity for young and old alike to admire these colourful silhouettes flying in the Catalan sky. The immense stretches of sand of the "South Beach" and the beach of the "Turning Bridge" will delight the amateurs of long parentheses of idleness under the sun.

Trails also criss-cross the Massif des Albères and the high mountain of Canigou, to allow walkers to discover all the magnificence of this corner of the hexagon.

Catalan gastronomy, as we know, is famous for its tasty dishes. The port of Saint Cyprien is an excellent place to breathe, the wind lends itself well to it and the sun was at the rendezvous. Eat at the restaurant "Le Biniou": very beautiful and good place.
