During your excursions through its clearings and pristine ridges, you may have the chance to cross paths with hares, groundhogs, badgers, foxes or chamois, especially if you walk early in the morning. Climbing the Etendard peak, you will reach one of the most beautiful belvederes of the whole massif, and will discover a breathtaking view on the Maurienne and the Etendard Glacier. World capital of cyclo climbers, it welcomes every year many mountain bike enthusiasts, experienced in the difficult exercise of climbing mountain passes by bike. The Col du Galibier, the Col de la Madeleine, the Col de la Glandon, the Croix de Fer and the Col du Mollard also host some of the most famous cycling events, including the famous Tour de France. As for hiking, many walks start from the Bottières station, such as the "Sentier de Découverte" (3 kilometres long), the "Trois Croix" (5 kilometres) or the Marmottes, 4 kilometres long. From the peaceful alp pastures where cows and sheep graze to the rocky and steep peaks, passing through the cool caves and high lakes, the mountain landscapes follow one another under the eyes of curious hikers without ever resembling each other.
