In the beautiful department of Savoie, south of Chambéry, Saint-Jean-d'Arves invites you to enjoy its authentic mountain village atmosphere. Summer and winter alike, you will be able to practice many activities and admire a breathtaking natural setting.
During the winter season, the pretty village of Saint-Jean-d'Arves offers a little piece of paradise to all ski lovers, beginners or experienced. In the heart of the Maurienne, the resort is part of the vast Sybelles ski area, one of the largest in France with 151 slopes of all levels and 71 ski lifts. You will be able to enjoy the snow for long hours to practice alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, tobogganing, dog-sled rides... The most intrepid will be able, as for them, to launch themselves on the modules of the spaces dedicated to the new slides : the snowpark, the easypark and the boardercross.
In summer, Saint-Jean-d'Arves changes scenery and invites you in a green environment. In a unique mountain world, you can take numerous hiking trails to discover the valley and its exceptional panoramas from the Col d'Arves and Mont-Charvin... Cyclists can tackle the Col de la Croix de Fer, climbed 16 times by Tour de France riders, and mountain bike enthusiasts will enjoy the signposted circuits and the Bike Park d'Arvi. But to vary the pleasures, you can also practice riding, ride a donkey or pony, go tennis, archery, climbing, offer a paragliding experience...
During your stay in Saint-Jean-d'Arves, also take the time to discover the heritage of the resort and the other villages of the Domaine des Sybelles. In the hamlet of Entraigues, enjoy the traditional habitat typical of the valley and the church with a curious sundial. In Fontcouverte-la-Toussuire, visit the numerous chapels and churches and the Cromlech, remains of the Neolithic period. Also discover the edutainment area of the Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves cooperative cheese dairy to learn all the secrets of Beaufort cheese making and taste it ! Among the other flavours to taste, let yourself be tempted by the products of the Arves honey house, by the Infusions des Aiguilles d'Arves and by all the Savoyard specialities : fondue, raclette, tartiflette...

Good plans: - visit of the cheese dairy and the Beaufort Museum - guided tour of the honey house - visit of Saint Sorlin d'Arves - very good restaurant : "La Grenouillère" in St Jean d'Arves - welcome drink and meeting with a tamper... the animators are dynamic and friendly. - I was disappointed by the staff at the tourist office who blocked their ears while we were making suggestions based on what others were thinking in a low voice: - a lot of grandparents accompanying grandchildren on the snow front and unfortunately no public benches. We were told that there is a low wall full of snow and that it turns its back on the snow front. - many walkers and no circuit traced by a snowmobile for example. we are told that we have to take snowshoes. DAMAGE that we don't consider that customers have ideas that are profitable for everyone. For skiing, the Sybelles area is superb. The slopes are varied. The junctions Le Corbier + La Toussuire + Saint Sorlin are easily accessible and to do to discover an unexpected high mountain panorama. The staff on the slopes is very very welcoming. We were lucky to have 60 cm of fresh snowfall.
