In the south of Spain, in the heart of the wonderful region of Andalusia, Granada is THE destination for your holiday in Spain. Cultural, exotic and magnificent, this city of a thousand and one facets has a very large number of sites and monuments to visit. You guys ready? Let's go! To start your stay in Granada, there's nothing like a stroll through its historic quarter. Situated at the foot of the Sierra Nevada, this ancient capital of the last Muslim kingdom in Iberian land is rich in multiple influences, as evidenced by its varied and colourful architecture, which gives Granada its unique and warm character. Medieval city classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is made up of small steep streets dotted with ancient buildings, Roman churches and flowered patios that invite you to stroll untiringly. If there is one emblematic site in Granada that is a must see, it is the Alhambra: located on the hill of Granada, this palatial complex consists of a sublime Moorish palace with glowing red reflections and a citadel. With its lush gardens and incredible architecture, its Palacio de Muhammad V, its sublime Nasrid Palace, its Court of the Lions and its 124 marble columns, its Sala de los Mozarabes, its Generalife Gardens and its Daraxa Mirador, this place as out of time will certainly be one of the most beautiful visits of your stay. Just in front of the Alhambra, on another hill, the Albaicin district is worth a visit. Picturesque and deliciously authentic, it will amaze you with the splendour of its cobbled streets and whitewashed houses, typical of Andalusia. You will discover the church of San Nicolás, the Moorish palace Dar-al-Horra (15th century), the Plaza Nueva, the Royal Chancellery, the church of Santa Ana known for its minaret, but also the Corral del Carbon and its small shops or the old Arab baths of Granada (11th century), called "El Banuelo". Stroll through the Sacromonte district to see its cave dwellings or to attend a flamenco show, before visiting the Royal Chapel and the amazing Cathedral of the Incarnation, which brilliantly blends Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance architecture. The Basilica of San Juan de Dios is worth seeing for its golden ceilings and columns, as well as the Monastery of La Cartuja, the Carmen de los Martires Park, the Science Park, the Bib-Rambla Plaza and the Alcaiceria Market overflowing with life. For a unique view of Granada, there is nothing better than climbing its (numerous) watchtowers: if the one in San Nicolas is the best known, especially for its views of the Sierra Nevada and the Alhambra at sunset, those in San Miguel Alto and San Cristobal are also worth the detour.

Finally, your visit to Granada would not be perfect without discovering the flavours of the local cuisine. Tapas are an integral part of Granada's gastronomy: with a beer or a glass of wine, local cold meats such as Trevelez ham, olives, cheese, fried fish, fried shrimps with garlic, Sacromonte omelette, gazpacho, salmorejo, patatas a lo pobre and ajo blanco are here to honour all the good tables. Raw Flageolets with ham, codfish with orange, cabbage soup, sardine dishes, San Anton stew, tortilla and other desserts made with honey and spices such as Alpujarras fig bread, "piovono", "roscos de Loja" and "tocinillo de cielo" will satisfy the appetite of the most gourmet.
