This fortified Benedictine monastery was built in the 10th century, but during your visit you can observe Romanesque and Baroque influences on some of its elements, such as its famous Porta Ferrada. Sant Feliu de Guixols has long been centred around the cork industry and is home to sumptuous villas, such as the modernist white houses on Sant Pol beach : the Casa Estrada with its 8 pointed towers and the Casa Girbau-Estrada and Casa Domènech-Gribau are among the most beautiful houses of this type facing the sea. Take a walk along the Passeig del Mar, where the sublime manor houses and the Casino de la Constancia are among the most remarkable buildings in Sant Feliu de Guixols. This last is recognizable between miles thanks to its yellow color, you will definitely not be able to miss ! Then head towards the hermitage of Sant Elm : an ancient defence fortress, it now contains superb allegorical paintings dating from the early twentieth century. If we advise you to visit this monument, it is also (and above all !) for its absolutely magnificent belvedere which will reveal you a breathtaking view of the coast and the turquoise waters, stretching as far as Tossa de Mar: it is in this precise place that the writer Ferran Agullo would have had the idea of calling this coast the "Costa Brava". Hikers will be delighted to learn that Sant Feliu de Guixols offers many walking and cycling trails through the city, its coastal paths and the surrounding mountains. The Sant Feliu de Guixols pathways along the sea are perfect walking routes, elegant and exotic, perfect for observing sunsets. The "Belvedere Route" has many loops for all levels : we advise you to take the "Cala Urgell Belvedere" trail, where the magnificent views of the coves of Sant Feliu de Guixols multiply. The "Puig Gros" and "Sant Benet" lookouts will be perfect for families to discover the most beautiful landscapes of the Costa Brava. The more adventurous will climb towards the cliffs of the Cala del Moli, for an aerial hike with a view of the coast. Famous throughout the Costa Brava, this via ferrata overlooking the sea will make you evolve in the middle of gulls and rocks, for a unique walk in its kind.
The coast of Sant Feliu de Guixols will surprise you with its varied reliefs : the rocky coves in the middle of the cliffs like Cala Canyerets, Cala Jonca and Cala del Vigata, but also the beautiful preserved beaches of Sant Feliu and Sant Pol (famous for its cabins as well as its clear and shallow waters) attract every year many holidaymakers. In addition to being the ideal place for idleness, during your stay you can practice a multitude of water sports on the beaches of the municipality : windsurfing, fishing, kayaking, boat hire, snorkeling, diving, water-skiing, surfing or ski-bus, all practices that will allow you to make the most of your holidays, in the heart of the preserved and idyllic environment of Sant Feliu de Guixols.
Finally, in terms of gastronomy, Sant Feliu de Guixols is famous for its fish, tapas, meat, vegetables and tasty fruit, cooked in the traditional way that fishermen used to do : "suquet de peix" (a fish cooked with potatoes), peixopalo (dried cod) and "suquet d'anxoves" (a dish mixing anchovies and potatoes) will delight your taste buds. We advise you to sit at one of the many terraces of the city or at the table of its modernist cafés, for a gourmet break facing the sea.

We have been coming to the region on holiday for several years. You have to go to Girona, Sagaro, Castel d'Aro and Platja d'Aro which are very nice places. Go for a mojito at "Juanita Banana" in Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
