Vast, dynamic and cosmopolitan, London is not something you can get used to quickly. However, it only takes a few hours to fall under its spell. To do so, you just have to walk along the Thames, discover Westminster, visit some museums and enjoy the nightlife.
Founded in 43, London owes its name to the fortified city that the Romans built on the banks of the Thames: Londinium. After the Romans left in 410, the city was almost abandoned and two centuries later the Anglo-Saxons built a new city next to the old Roman stronghold. Since then, despite some trying times (invasions, epidemics, fires, wars), the city has continued to prosper and grow. Today, Greater London covers 1600 km² and is home to 7.5 million inhabitants.
A visit to London would not be complete without visiting several must-see sites. Visit the Abbey and the Palace of Westminster, the historic seat of British power dominated by its beautiful clock tower, the famous "Big Ben". Also enjoy Tower Bridge, the majestic St. Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London where the Crown Jewels are displayed. Then, enrich yourself without spending a penny in fabulous museums: the British Museum and its incredible collection of Egyptian and Greek antiquities, the National Gallery and its numerous paintings of great masters (Caravaggio, Vinci, Rembrandt...) and the Tate Modern for its collection of modern art but also for its formidable building. Finally, see London from above by climbing aboard the highest observation wheel in the world: the London Eye.
Take advantage of your trips to these numerous attractions to discover the different districts of London: Soho and Covent Garden, very touristy but ideal for shopping; Bloomsbury, the intellectual center of the capital with its numerous faculties; Southbank for its cultural abundance but also for its restaurants, cafés and stores... To relax between two visits, take a few minutes to relax in the heart of the royal parks: St James's Park which offers a beautiful view of Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, famous for its Speaker's Corner and its solar boat which crosses the lake... A little more out of the way, Greenwich and Hampstead Heath also offer large green spaces and the feeling of being in the heart of a village.
Hyde Park
Hyde Park is the largest park in central London, as well as one of the eight Royal Parks of London. Its particularity is that it is home to squirrels that can be fed. On the south side is Kensington Palace, where Diana, Princess of Wales, lived.
London Bus
The legendary red buses are used on two lines, known as heritage, the red "Routemaster" double decker. These are the 9 line from Royal Albert Hall to Aldwych and the 15 line from Trafalgar Square to Tower Hill. These two routes offer many opportunities to see the city and all its wonders.

The famous Camden Market composed of five interconnected areas, open from Monday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm, the traditional craft market of Covent Garden open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm or the antiques market of Portobello Road Market open on Saturday from 8am to 5pm.<br />
