Nestling at an altitude of 300 metres, at the foot of the southern slope of Mont Ventoux, Bédoin is located about 40 kilometres from the city of Avignon. Sheltered from the Mistral wind, this little paradise of peace and quiet is the perfect place to put down your suitcases and discover the most beautiful corners of Provence.

As soon as you arrive in the village of Bédoin, what jumps out at you is its postcard setting. With the Mont Ventoux in its snow hat as a backdrop, Bédoin is a real delight to the eye, all year round, when the panorama changes and colours with the seasons. Perched on the heights of its promontory, the Saint-Antonin hill, the baroque church of Saint-Pierre stands out in the sky, like a lighthouse guiding the entrance of boats. Built at the very beginning of the 18th century, its Jesuit facade evokes the Mexican-style buildings of the same period, but retains all the assets of Provence thanks to its large wrought-iron bell tower. Around the church, small medieval houses with typical architecture of the region are clustered. Here, tall stone houses stand side by side in a poetic mix of small houses with a hundred shades of ochre that dot the narrow and winding streets of the village. As you explore the village, the wash houses and fountains (15 in all), as well as the cafés, restaurants and shaded terraces on the main street will plunge you into the atmosphere so characteristic of Provence. On the terraces, you will be able to taste, always in moderation, the delights of the AOC classified wine produced in Bédoin, but also the fruits and vegetables (asparagus in particular), produced on the sunny hillsides of the village. Visit also the Romanesque chapel Notre-Dame-du-Moustier, and the chapel of the Madeleine, located a few kilometers away from the village in the Combe Obscure. Renowned for its interior decorations, it is one of the most beautiful ensembles of Provencal Romanesque art, a must see.

The Combe Obscure is also a very popular climbing site in the region, which attracts sportsmen and curious people in search of sensations. In addition, the commune is home to one of the largest communal forests in France, spread over more than 6300 hectares, or more than a third of Mont Ventoux. Sheltering more than 1200 native plant species and a magnificent protected fauna (including llamas from the Barroux experimental llama breeding farm), it is a very popular site for hikers, mountain bikers and other trail enthusiasts who can enjoy all their favourite activities.
