Formerly integrated into the county of Périgord, the Dordogne is distinguished by the beauty and diversity of its landscapes. To discover them, multiply the points of view by practicing the numerous outdoor activities that are proposed to you. Take, for example, the 7,000 kilometers of marked paths that will lead you, on foot, on horseback or by bicycle, through forests, vineyards and valleys. Then stroll along the river, on legendary rivers, aboard a gabarre, a canoe-kayak or take the height during a balloon ride. (Gurson, Neufont...), recreation centers (Chandos, Rouffiac), adventure parks (Monkey's Forest, the Appel de la Forêt) and the many golfs.
After this immersion in the nature, go to the discovery of the millenary cities of the Dordogne. Rendez-vous in Périgueux, a former Gallo-Roman city that houses some forty historic monuments. Enjoy the Vésone tower, the Barrière castle and the Saint-Front cathedral with its beautiful Byzantine domes. Then you will be charmed by the medieval city of Sarlat and admire its unique heritage : Saint-Sacerdos cathedral, La Boétie house, Gisson hotel... But also visit Bergerac and its lanes lined with half-timbered houses and some of the 10 classified villages One of the most beautiful in France : Beynac-et-Cazenac, La Roque Gageac, Limeuil, Saint-Amand de Coly, Saint-Jean de Côle...
A stay in the Dordogne could not be complete without a long journey through history, in the Vézère valley which gathers a multitude of prehistoric sites. In the Eyzies of Tayac, discover the Font-de-Gaume cave, the Cro-Magnon shelter and the National Museum of Prehistory with its collection of 18,000 pieces retracing nearly 400,000 years of humanity's evolution. Nearby, also visit Lascaux 4, perfect replica of the famous ornate cave. Finally, do not forget that this historic land also has a rich terroir that will delight all gastronomes thanks to its succulent products : foie gras, black truffles, confits, strawberries and walnuts from Périgord, wines from Bergerac...

"Le Saint Clar" is a very good restaurant (rue Pechaud - you can't make it up...): delicious cuisine (gourmet menu, refined and very copious (starter, main course, dessert for 26€). A market on Thursdays and, smaller, on Saturdays where we found local tomatoes for 2.5 € per kg! The butcher on the Place de la Halle is excellent with farm produce at fair prices. The Périgourdins are very welcoming and natural, a change from the "tourist trap" regions. We will undoubtedly come back to the region.
