Today it is a place for visits, archaeological research and concerts during the summer period.

But the cradle of humanity is also famous for its many rivers and streams criss-crossing every corner of the Périgord Noir. During sunny afternoons or whole days, you can canoe and paddle in the Gorges de L'Auvézère, on the Vézère, or on the side of the Eyzies leisure centre, just a quarter of an hour from the centre of Rouffignac.

A good table = "Le Puit Fleuri" in Rouffignac : farmhouse inn but which I find a little expensive. I also found in Montignac the restaurant "Au Plaisir de Montignac" which I find perfect for balanced meals.

There is so much to see in the region. Follow the advice of the person who welcomes you, both on the sites to visit and on the good restaurants in the region. We particularly enjoyed the visit of the cave of Rouffignac and comments from the young guide who accompanied us.
