To the south of the Landes, next to Vieux-Boucau, Messanges is a charming Gascon village renowned for its gentle lifestyle. Between ocean, pine forests and peaceful ponds, you will spend relaxing and invigorating holidays in an authentic environment.
On the Atlantic coast, Messanges offers you a coastline of more than 5 kilometres of white sand to enjoy the joys of the ocean. Renowned for its spots that host an annual surfing world championship event, the resort is a real invitation to discover this discipline. To initiate you or to improve you, many schools will allow you to make fast progress. But you can enjoy the beach in many other ways : idleness, swimming, kayaksurfing... After a few hours facing the ocean, take a walk in the village to discover its pretty character, its many shops and its church Saint-Clément rebuilt around 1820 but which has some Romanesque remains from its first construction in the thirteenth century.
Situated on an old Way of Santiago de Compostela, Messanges was very popular with pilgrims who could rest there before resuming their journey. From this distant past, the resort has kept its taste for walking and has many marked footpaths. Hiking enthusiasts will thus be able to discover the surrounding nature where forests, swampy environments and wet meadows mix. Lovers of two-wheelers will be delighted by the presence of bicycle paths that will allow them, during the holidays, to forget the car : old railway rebuilt, green track, Velodyssey... And if you wish to place your stay under the sign of sport, many other activities await you: golf, horse riding, tennis, archery...
Take advantage of your stay in Messanges to discover the surroundings. In Molliets-et-Maa, a neighbouring commune, you can admire the Huchet Current Nature Reserve, whose botanical diversity has earned it the nickname "Amazonia landaise". Then make a trip to the nearby Basque Country and visit the beautiful cities of Bayonne, Biarritz and Saint-Jean-de-Luz. And, if you still have a little time left, also offer yourself a short trip to Spain to see San Sebastian or even Bilbao. Back in Messanges, don't forget to taste all the richness of Landes cuisine : foie gras, confits, garbures, pastis...

2 kms from Vieux-Boucau, a very lively town: there is something for everyone. Take the cycle path (la Vélodyssée): secure and very fast access.

In addition to your good tips, we took the children to the Dinosaur Park (10 km away): open from 10am to 7pm, it allows you to discover the dinosaurs and do lots of other activities (riding arena, kart, excavations, labyrinth...), picnic area or food on site.

Recommended: the tour of the Vieux Boucau marine lake by foot (about 1h30 walk) and the market on Tuesdays and Saturdays mornings. Drink a coffee on the terrace at Le Surf au Vieux Boucau: smiling welcome and sunshine.
