The first marina in Europe, the Port-Camargue district has become the spearhead of the commune of Grau du Roi, already famous as a fishing port and tourist destination. Built in the 60's, this sunny little corner Of Languedoc-Roussillon is the ideal place to spend holidays between beach, relaxation and water sports.
The marina of Port-Camargue is full of life. It hosts more than 170 shops, of which about sixty are dedicated to tourism. It is the perfect place to discover many water sports activities, such as jet skiing or diving. Boat trips and cruises also invite you to the surrounding cities to know as its pocket the coast of Languedoc. Near the seaside, the Seaquarium opens its doors to small (and big !) curious, and reveals the mysteries of the underwater fauna. In addition to its thirty aquariums where more than 300 marine species live, the park also offers a museum dedicated to marine turtles, endangered animals. Recently, a new space called Imaginarium presents the myths of marine monsters and underwater cities, as well as the dangers of climate change.
Gourmets will be spoiled for choice in Port-Camargue. Restaurants and bars abound near the harbor docks. Directly opposite the boats, the terrace of the Cook's Cafe is a must-see place to enjoy tasty and hearty dishes. Not to trust its English name, it is well and good quality Mediterranean cuisine that is served there ! Between tapas, meats and fish, there is something for everyone in this friendly restaurant.
And to entertain once the belly full, one continues in the regional traditions with the Languedoc Jousts. This heritage of the past restores the spirit of tournaments of knights, only now, it is in the port itself that the confrontation takes place. Two boats propelled by rowers oppose each other in a duel full of suspense, in which the jousters, perched on platforms, must succeed in making the adversary fall into the water. Several tournaments of this typical practice of the region take place during the summer period : an entertainment not to be missed !

Casino restaurant: great reception, good and hearty meals, competent staff. Take a little trip on a 6hp boat (Alma Nautic) from Grau du Roi to Aigues Mortes: the staff is welcoming and the weather was super nice.

For a lunch on the go or on the terrace, I recommend the rotisserie-caterer of the Carrefour 2000 shopping centre: it's excellent, affordable and above all the welcome is super nice (especially Pat, the manager).

The walk from Port Camargue to Grau du Roi with the sunset is superb. Fun activities for children in the evening in Port Camargue: merry-go-round, bouncy castle, etc. Great. Great. night market on the Quai d'Honneur and market on Wednesday morning: great Very good carpaccio at the butcher's shop in Port Camargue, made in front of you with organic meat.
