With its incomparable views of the Mont Ventoux, the village of Aubignan, situated between Orange and Avignon, just a few kilometres from the Dentelles de Montmirail and Carpentras, is the ideal destination for holidaymakers seeking peace and nature. In the countryside but not far from the big tourist towns of Provence, Aubignan enjoys a privileged location for a perfect discovery of the Vaucluse landscapes.
Marked by history, the town of Aubignan offers its visitors multiple riches, to discover during your peregrinations in its narrow streets full of charm. Its Saint-Sixte chapel, a building that bears witness to the local Romanesque art of Provence, is one of the monuments to visit during your visit to the town : although it was once a parish church, it has since been restored and transformed into a wine tasting cellar, to the delight of the gourmands. Like many villages in the Comtat Venaissin, Aubignan acquired fortifications during the 16th century. The Porte de France and its section of curtain wall are the witnesses of this ancient era : access path to the old heart of Aubignan, they are surmounted by a wrought iron bell tower, and support the village clock. Stroll through the streets of Aubignan in search of its strong historical heritage : as you stroll through the city, you may be able to observe the presence of machicolations, sundials and towers made of imposing stones. After having taken the time for a café on the terrace, head towards the ramparts which overlook the city : from the heights, the panoramas are breathtaking on the massifs and the neighbouring valleys.
By bike or on foot, go along the Canal de Carpentras to meet the wine and agricultural landscapes of the department. Created in 1857, this 85 km long canal will allow you multiple excursions in the middle of nature, at the same time sporting and resourcing. In all, 13 cycling routes cross the Ventoux, via Aubignan, orchards, greenways, the Carpentras Canal, the Sault plateau, perched villages, the Nesque gorges and the Dentelles de Montmirail. These last are moreover of an exceptional beauty : made of limestone, this massif made up of needles and peaks formed by erosion is a place of predilection for the lovers of climbing. The Dentelles site is also dotted with numerous cycle routes, which will allow courageous hikers to enjoy sumptuous panoramas over the Pas de l'Aigle in particular, or the ruins of the Prébayon monastery (15 kilometres from Aubignan). Fishing enthusiasts will happily head to the Moulin Neuf pond to enjoy the peace and quiet of the area and its fish-filled waters. Small and large horse-riding fans will also be able to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside on horse or pony rides between the forests of the Vaucluse and the vineyards.
Finally, in terms of gastronomy, you will have understood that Aubignan has many wineries, known for their good wines. Situated in the middle of a clever mix of hills and old marshy grounds, Aubignan is only a stone's throw from Beaumes de Venise and the famous vineyards of the Côtes du Rhône. It is therefore the perfect destination for oenophiles and other wine lovers, curious to taste the local grape varieties. During your stay under the sun of Provence, you can taste Côtes du Rhône, Muscat de Beaumes de Venise, Côtes du Ventoux and Vins de Pays, accompanied by black truffles, candied fruits, strawberries, melons, quail from Provence, stew and berlingots from Carpentras for the most gourmand.

Great rides to do within a 60 km radius. We did not do more, fear of running out of fuel. Very complicated to get supplies so reduced outings but still beautiful.

For hikers: beautiful circuits (with no difference in altitude) between olive groves, vineyards and canal banks. On a slope, there are beautiful viewpoints over the surrounding towns.

In Moirmon, a small restaurant in a magnificent setting ("La Cahute"). Visits : Avignon, Fontaine de Vaucluse, l'Isle sur Sorgue, château le Barroux, Malaucène, Mont Ventoux, Gordes, Roussillon. Each visit was a delight. Moreover, don't miss: the cellar les coteaux du Rhône (57 path behind the park - BP N*7 Route de Camaret - 84830 Sérignan du Comtat), cheap wine and a perfect welcome. IN SHORT IT WAS AN UNFORGETTABLE STAY!
