Just 15 kilometres from Geneva and about 20 minutes from ski resorts (such as Mijoux), Divonne-les-Bains is a renowned spa resort that attracts more and more curious visitors every year, including hikers, mountain enthusiasts and those taking the waters. Between the Jura mountain range and Lake Geneva, this wooded commune lies in the heart of the Haut Jura Nature Park. A paradise for walkers, the commune has a vast network of marked and safe paths, which will allow lovers of trekking and contemplative walks to take their eyes away, in the heart of hilly and colourful landscapes. The roads of the Jura mountains, but also the Lake Geneva region, are also perfect for sporting trekking sessions: the most courageous will not fail to take the sporting route of Mont-Mussy, and to attempt the ascent of La Dôle, the second highest peak in the Swiss Jura, which towers above Divonne-les-Bains at an altitude of 1,677 metres.
Divonne-les-Bains also boasts a wide range of facilities: its casino, theatre and racecourse, as well as its minigolf, 9 and 18-hole golf courses, treetop adventure course, laser-game, Olympic swimming pool and cultural centre make it a dream destination for family and romantic holidays alike. The lake of Divonne is an essential stage of your visit: in the heart of the town, this 45-hectare lake is a real little paradise of nature. Here, grey herons, black-headed gulls, water hens, great cormorants, kingfishers and other mallards have taken up residence. The lake is full of fish and is home to carp, tench, roach, catfish and northern pike, to the delight of fishing enthusiasts who flock here in large numbers. In addition, this lake, around which the walking trails abound, has a very beautiful fine sand beach, ideal for bubbling in the sun during the summer season. You will also be able to swim, paddle, pedal boat, sail, all with a breathtaking view of Mont Blanc!
Finally, how can we talk about Divonne-les-Bains without mentioning its architecture, and its thermal baths: famous for hundreds of years now, the beneficial waters of the commune ("divonna" would mean "divine water" in Latin), rich in magnesium and fluorine, are perfect for treating many ailments. Thermal cures, health cures, spa sessions, fitness, aquagym, and other aquatic activities will be perfect to get you back in shape. A town of water, Divonne-les-Bains also has many springs and fountains, as well as splendid villas (including the Villa Beaulieu) and two castles (the Château de Divonne and the Château de Crassy), which we strongly advise you to discover while strolling in the heart of this small town of character.
