In the heart of the Côtes-d'Armor, the village of Saint-Martin-des-Prés is one of those small villages that hold many secrets. Authentic, and ideally situated to discover some of the most beautiful sites of the department, this Breton commune is the perfect place to put your suitcases down for a stay that will give pride of place to wonder and cultural discoveries.

About thirty minutes from Saint-Brieuc and the famous Nature Reserve, Saint-Martin-des-Prés, is the perfect place to pack your bags for a relaxing holiday, far from the crowds and close to the sea. In the village, the houses are cosy, solid, mostly made in the neo-Breton tradition. Take a tour of the village to discover the church of Saint-Martin, whose history is closely linked to that of the monks of the Abbey of Bon-Repos, and which is worth a visit for its tabernacle of the Carmelites of Quintin (18th century). In terms of religious heritage, like the region itself, many chapels have flourished over the centuries in the town. To see? The Saint-David chapel (1705), the Sainte-Barbe chapel (1769), without forgetting the Saint-Roch and Saint-Jean chapels, from the 16th and 18th centuries respectively. If the Calvaries are scattered throughout the landscapes of the town, it is the same for the old mansions, like that of Clunehault. But if it is a spot not to be missed during your visit, it is indeed the Butte Saint-Michel. The third highest point in Brittany, perched at an altitude of 320 metres, it offers incomparable panoramas of the town and the Armorican Massif, up to 30 kilometres around. To reach it, several walking itineraries, adapted for young and old, will be at your disposal for a few minutes walk along its slopes.

A land of discovery above all, Saint-Martin-de-Prés will allow you to reach some of the star destinations of the Côtes-d'Armor in less time than it takes to say. Our advice? Whether you're on foot, by car or by bike, take advantage of the splendour of the surrounding countryside for a few relaxing strolls! In the direction of the Oust and the Étang de Bosméléac, but also of the Pont des Amours which poetically spans the Mottay stream, or the Étang de la Salle, there are many waterways that water Saint-Martin-des-Prés and its surroundings.

22 kilometres further south, Lake Guerlédan on the Blavet, marks the border between the Côtes-d'Armor and the Morbihan. A flagship stop in the region, Lake Guerlédan is the largest artificial lake in Brittany, covering 304 hectares. In the heart of the Argoat, it unfolds under the marvellous eyes of young and old alike on the magnificent wooded banks, which give it an almost fairy-tale atmosphere suspended in time. A small paradise for lovers of green breaks, it offers a multitude of hiking trails, cycling routes, as well as picnic, canoeing and fishing spots. After a tour, the Abbey of Bon-Repos just next door (21 kilometres from Saint-Martin-des-Prés) is worth a visit. Founded in 1184, this Cistercian abbey is absolutely majestic. And in addition to marvelling at its architecture, it is not short of grandiose in the summer months on the occasion of its annual sound and light show.

Finally, further north, Saint-Brieuc, Plérin (and its beaches!), Yffiniac, Pordic, Binic (40 minutes away), but also Étables-sur-Mer (45 minutes away), Saint-Quay-Portrieux (50 minutes away), without forgetting the cliffs of Plouha (50 minutes away) will satisfy your desires for hikes, lunches and swimming by the sea!
