Just next to Aigues-Mortes and the beaches of La Grande-Motte, Vauvert enjoys an absolutely perfect location for a holiday in the heart of the "Petite Camargue". Vauvert, a town in the Gard region, on the border with the Bouches-du-Rhône, has all the cards in hand to seduce nature, history and green holidays lovers.

Raw, authentic and exciting, the village of Vauvert is located in the heart of the Camargue Gardoise, also called "Petite Camargue". Rich of a very old history, the village would have been inhabited from the year 810. Divided into two distinct districts, one Christian, the other Jewish, this commune with a strong religious influence still has today beautiful testimonies of its past, such as its magnificent Clock Tower, its circular Temple, and its wide Saint-Louis gate. So, to capture the essence of Vauvert, take the time to stroll through the heart of the village, especially through the old streets that make up its town centre. The Notre-Dame de l'Assomption church, but also the Petit temple, the Montcalm castle, and the magnificent 19th-century town hall will be worth discovering as you stroll through Vauvert. The arena is a must in the town; throughout the year, within its walls, the hooves of the horses and bulls make the traditions resound during Camargue races, which you may have the opportunity to attend.

In addition to its historical and cultural side, Vauvert is above all a small paradise of nature. Hikers can, if they wish, venture on foot or by bicycle through the vineyards, rice fields, marshes, salt marshes and fragrant pine forests that make Vauvert an Eden for green holidays. The Vauvert-Gallician Greenway, but also the cycle tourism loops through the Camargue Gardoise and the Costières, without forgetting the ViaRhôna which starts at the Gallician marina will allow cycling enthusiasts many outings through the relief of the region. As for hikers, they will be able to enjoy more than 100 kilometres of signposted paths, via the Santiago de Compostela Way, the Arles Way or the GR653. Linking the sunny slopes of the Costières vineyards to the Mediterranean, Vauvert is undeniably linked to the sea. Here, the walks are made around the pond of Charnier, the being of Scamandre, but also along the Canal du Rhône à Sète which crosses the commune from one side to the other. This canal, which is so famous in the region, is lined with many splendid bridges, including the Pont des Tourradons or the Pont du Port de Gallician, perfect lookouts for observing nature and sunsets over the salt marshes. Horseback riding, discovery of manades and other outings at the Sylvéréal nautical base and in the Scamandre Reserve will perfect your discovery of the area.

Finally, in just a few minutes, you will be able to enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean. The seaside resorts of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, but also Aigues-Mortes, Le Grau-du-Roi and La Grande-Motte are only a few kilometres from Vauvert, so you can enjoy long white sand beaches to perfect your tan, but also to swim, and to practise many water activities such as sailing, surfing, scuba diving, paddle, kayaking, wakeboarding, kitesurfing or even jet-skiing and bodyboarding...
