With no less than 300 days of sunshine per year, Nice is a must-see destination on the French Riviera. Cultivating its timeless charm for many centuries, it is quite natural that Nice attracted between its walls the easels of the painters who came to immortalize its light and its colors (in particular during its flower battles and its famous carnival in February). Artists at heart or culture lovers will find many ways to enjoy themselves in Nice, notably thanks to the wonderful Matisse Museum, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the International Museum of Naive Art, or the Marc Chagall National Museum. As far as the built heritage is concerned, Nice has some very beautiful buildings to visit during your stay: the Opera, the Negresco Palace classified as a historical monument, the Law Courts, or the Lascaris Palace. The latter, a former aristocratic palace of the 17th century, now houses the museum of ancient musical instruments; located in the heart of the old town of Nice, it is one of the most beautiful testimonies of the civil baroque style of Nice, remarkable for its finely decorated salons and its majestic staircases. Along with the Palais de Justice, this site is located in one of the most popular areas of Nice: the Vieux-Nice. With its labyrinth of narrow streets, its houses with facades painted in a thousand shades of orange, yellow and red, its art galleries, its fresh pasta stores and its cookie factories, the Vieux-Nice has an almost medieval, old-fashioned charm that attracts the favor of authenticity lovers. To complete your visit, we recommend you find a place in the shade where you can taste a delicious socca, a traditional pancake made with chickpea flour: a must of the local gastronomy! After strolling through the streets of Old Nice, don't miss the magnificent Place Garibaldi and its little cafés on the terrace, the Cours Saleya and its flower market, the Cimiez district known for its monastery and luxury hotels such as Le Regina, the Orthodox cathedral of Saint-Nicolas and its extraordinary architecture, or the hill of the Castle overlooking the port, from which you can contemplate magnificent panoramas of the whole of Nice Then head straight to Place Massena, between the Promenade des Anglais and Vieux-Nice: known for its beautiful facades colored in Pompeian red, this Italian-style square is the perfect place to stroll.
How to stay in Nice without passing by the mythical Promenade des Anglais? Running along the Bay of Angels, the Promenade des Anglais is one of the most beautiful symbols of Nice. Seven kilometers long, this alley built in 1822 is lined with many luxury hotels, casinos and rich residences. If the walk is pleasant, we advise you to put on your rollerblades or to get on your bike to make this outing even more pleasant, day and night. You will also notice that the Promenade des Anglais offers a wonderful panorama of Nice's other charming asset: the Mediterranean.
From the "Plage des Ponchettes" to the "Plage du Castel", passing by the "Plage Lido", the "Plage Rauba Capeu" or the "Plage Poincaré", the beaches of Nice are essentially made of pebbles, and this is what makes their reputation. But don't worry, you will still find pebble and sandy beaches where you can put your towel as well as many deckchair rental companies, for naps facing the sea without backache. However, if you are one of those who have the urge to travel, then you should know that it is ideal to discover the Nice coastline from the splendid coastal path linking Nice to Villefranche sur Mer: the perfect walk to discover small corners where you can indulge in long sessions of idleness in complete peace. And finally, water sports enthusiasts will be delighted to know that Nice is also a dynamic resort with a (very!) wide range of facilities and clubs where you can practice board sports or adventure sports, from wakesurfing to jet-skiing, air stream, giant paddle, parachute flying, flyboarding, overboarding, towed buoys, diving and windsurfing.
