The mayor had built this house in 1060 A.C. , drawing on the sides of the outer fort wall of Talarn and next to Defense Tower of Portal de Caps. It was the first home with running water and certainly one of the first houses in the Pyrenees. Later on became The Monastery of Talarn and today, Alberg de Talarn has been renovated with taste and lots of love to host the thousands of travellers visiting the wonders of the area every year. In today’s backyard there were holes dug in the rock to ferment wine, today converted in large underground cellars and stables to keep livestock.This is only the beginning of the house. It has attracted many other characters , like our beloved Blessed Ana Maria Janer and others that have not been in history, such as The Abandoned Children of Talarn who sheltered behind these walls.
