"Le Lys des Champs", a charming gîte, welcomes you for a cosy stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Take your time, discover, dream - that's what you're invited to do for a stay in the heart of unspoilt nature.
2h40 from Paris, between Laval and Le Mans, a unique experience awaits you in this small fortified medieval town, an 11th-century stronghold and a must-see tourist attraction, located on the road to Brittany and not far from Normandy.
You'll fall under the spell of this small village and its inhabitants. Take your time to explore the town and its picturesque streets, discover its castle and keep, the "chemin de la poterne" and its breathtaking view, the charming hamlet of La Rivière and its ancient water mills.
Your gîte, "Le Lys des champs", is a building that has retained all its authentic character. Built of exposed stone, typical of the region, this house used to be the home of the "charron" (wood and metal specialist, who made various tanks, vehicles, wheels...).
Completely renovated, the house retains its original bread oven (no longer functional), and the wheelwright's workshop (not accessible) is still in the garden.
Carefully decorated and furnished in a chic country style, "Le Lys des Champs" welcomes you for a warm, family vacation. Everything is designed for your comfort: for a cosy autumn/winter by the fire, or a lazy spring/summer on the terrace.
As you enter, you'll discover a bright living room of over 40 m2 with a pleasant, open-plan, fully-equipped kitchen. A small internet corner or coffee-break, as you wish. The lounge area features a comfortable convertible sofa, armchair and wood-burning stove. A small room with toilet, washbasin and laundry facilities completes the ground floor.
Upstairs, the "shabby chic" landing welcomes you with its small desk, library corner and "girly" bench seat. It leads to 2 bedrooms, one with 1 double bed (160x200) and the other with a double bed (160x200) or 2 single beds (80x200) for 2 people, to be determined before your arrival. These 3 bright rooms overlook the Erve valley in the distance. A cosy bathroom with a window completes the first floor (toilet, washbasin, shower). Beds are made up on arrival. Towels optional (€5/person).
Baby equipment: high chair, cot, changing mat. Wifi and TV available.
A small enclosed garden, indoor parking, a small west-facing terrace and a larger south-facing terrace. Garden furniture and plancha available in fine weather.
Heating: electric inertia radiators and wood-burning stove. One wood box included, 10 euros per additional wood box. Metered electricity payable to owner at end of stay.
Telecommuting: 1 office space upstairs and a small raised office on the ground floor in the living area, RJ45 socket.
From the gîte, a small footpath leads to the medieval walled town (400m/6 min. walk).
Pets not accepted.
A few days before your arrival, contact the owners to arrange your entry to the gîte. Ideally, entry is between 4pm and 8pm.
