What marks you when you arrive in Vallauris? The charm. That of a historic city, perfectly combining the assets of a Provençal village with the attractions of a dynamic seaside resort. To best present Vallauris, you need to know about its age-old tradition: ceramics. Vallauris is a world-renowned "Ville et Métiers d'Art" and a world-renowned centre for pottery, which attracts many artists and enthusiasts every year. For a thematic visit, nothing beats a stroll along Avenue Georges Clemenceau: you will discover magnificent ceramic shops, workshops and galleries, which we strongly advise you to push the door, so that you too can learn the techniques of this local know-how. Built in checkerboard, Vallauris is an ancient city of defence, as evidenced by the presence of high residences topped by towers, which were once its ramparts. Take the tour of churches and chapels to discover all the religious heritage of Vallauris, walk through the Parc Départemental de la Valmasque for a picnic, and don't miss the Paradou massif: A veritable balcony overlooking the Mediterranean, perched in the heights of the Gulf of Juan, this tiny park with its lush vegetation made up of scrubland, giant eucalyptus trees and fragrant mimosas offers magical views of the Lérins islands, the snow-covered mountains in the distance and the lighthouse of the Antelope. Are you more into cycling? The 2.6 km long "Les Mirandoles" cycle path or the seaside "La Littorale" cycle path will allow you to enjoy the splendours of Vallauris to the full.

A city of art, it is quite naturally that Vallauris has attracted artists from all over the world to its nets, not the least of whom is Pablo Picasso! Ambassador of the city, the master painter settled in Vallauris in 1948, seduced by the talent of the artists of this living city. At the Madoura workshop, he also devoted himself to ceramics, as attested by an all-bronze statue signed by him in the market square, called "The Man with Sheep". His other major works are now on display at the Picasso National Museum, "La Guerre et la Paix" (admission is €6 per person).

Vallauris is also a favourite seaside destination, ideal for family holidays as well as for stays with friends. Golfe-Juan, the seaside resort of Vallauris, is really worth a visit and will satisfy all your desires for the seaside. Take the time to stroll along the quays of the Old Port, as well as those of the "Camille Rayon" Port, which offers splendid views of the Lérins Islands and Gulf of Juan Bay from its terraces. On the beach side, Vallauris unrolls more than 3.5 kilometres of fine sand along the Mediterranean Sea, perfect for bubbling under the sun facing the azure sea. The Beach and Cove of Mirandole, the Beach of the Sun or the Beach of the South will satisfy all your sporting desires. You can choose from sailing, towed buoys, water games, sport fishing, snorkelling, paddle yoga, scuba diving, renting boats or passing your boat licence, making sea excursions to Monaco, the Corniche d'Or, Saint-Tropez or the Lerins islands... In short, it's impossible to get bored during your holidays in Vallauris !
