At the edge of the English Channel, in the department of Finistère, Saint-Jean-du-Doigt is located a few steps away from the bay of Morlaix. Between legend and exceptional heritage, nature and dynamism, Saint-Jean-du-Doigt offers an ideal setting for a family or romantic stay in Brittany.

Between the bay of Morlaix and the Pink Granite Coast, Saint-Jean-du-Doigt is a small Breton village full of charm. Located in a green setting just next to Plougasnou, Saint-Jean-du-Doigt is one of the pearls of the Trégor Finistérien, between the bays of Lannion and Morlaix. Taking its name from the relic of the finger of Saint-Jean-Baptiste (15th century) which was the source of many cures, this village is, like many Breton villages, marked by a very beautiful religious heritage. The parish enclosure with its 16th century church in flamboyant gothic style, its spire, its bell tower, its treasure and its stained glass windows is particularly worth a visit. Also, impossible not to fall on the monumental stone fountain of kersanton, built according to the legend thanks to the queen Anne of Brittany. The oratory of the Rite in the cemetery, but also the House of the Government, the calvary of Pen-ar-C'hra and its eponymous miraculous fountain, without forgetting the Saint-Mélar chapel! Also, many manors have flourished in Saint-Jean-du-Doigt over the centuries; the 15th century manor of Kermabon, as well as the manors of Pont ar Glech and Kergadiou will give you a good idea of the local know-how and the unique beauty of its buildings.

Inspiring painters for centuries, this dynamic village comes alive in June, at the time of the pardon of Saint-Jean and its famous bonfire, as well as on the occasion of the Fête du Violon during which concerts of classical, traditional, Latino and Celtic music resound in the village.

A land of wide open spaces between the countryside and the sea, Saint-Jean-du-Doigt is the ideal place to start hiking. The valley of the Donnant Rau in particular is a privileged place for walks to discover a whole bunch of old mills, but on the seaside, we can only recommend you to take the paths of the GR34 which goes along the whole Breton coast. From east to west, start from the beach of Vilin Izella to walk quietly to the cliff of Ben An Fry, adored by hikers, and then end your journey at the beach of Plougasnou. Straddling Saint-Jean-du-Doigt and Plougasnou, this magnificent beach with its wide-open views over the English Channel is a real Eden for lovers of wide open spaces. This vast and bucolic beach of sand and pebbles is renowned for fishing on foot, but also for windsurfing and surfing, as well as for quiet swimming. A place which, for sure, will be the icing on the cake of your vacations in Brittany!
