About forty kilometres from Bastia, in the department of Haute-Corse, the seaside resort of Moriani-Plage lies along the beaches of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Located in the municipality of San-Nicolao, it is one of the most popular destinations on the Costa Verde, with 17 kilometres of gently sloping beaches perfect for family bathing. And the inhabitants have reason to be proud of their town since Moriani-Plage has one of the largest beaches in the whole Isle of Beauty. Extremely popular with holidaymakers, Moriani beach unveils several hundred metres of fine golden sand, perfect for lazing in the sun. Supervised in summer, accessible to people with reduced mobility, it is lined with a few restaurants where you can sit down to sip a drink while admiring the sunset. With its mattresses for hire and its nautical centre, it attracts both holidaymakers wishing to perfect their tan and sportsmen in search of sensations. Here you can sail, wakeboard, catamaran, towed buoy, paddle, surf, jet-ski or swim in a beautiful setting. This beach is also the starting point of a very popular hike in the area, the "Mare a mare" hike, understand "Sea to sea". Crossing Corsica from east to west, this ten-day hike from San-Nicolao to Cargese is a must for all lovers of Corsican landscapes and walking. Travelling through authentic small island villages, it offers its courageous hikers incredible panoramas to contemplate, rivers, mountains and forests to cross, but also an exceptionally rich fauna and flora to discover.

Also from the beach you can see in the distance the ruins of the Genoese tower of Moriani, which was once used to watch over the coast. Take the time to explore the village and its surroundings to discover a superb Genoese bridge and a Roman aqueduct used until the 19th century, as well as the famous Ucelluline Waterfall, between the hamlet of Fano and the village of Poghju. The small picturesque residences that line the commune, made of lauze and schist stone, will perfect your discovery of the local heritage. But for a complete immersion, nothing is better than a small excursion to the Moriani-Plage market which is held every Tuesday. If the local craftsmanship has a place of choice, we can only advise you to hurry to the side of sun-drenched fruits and vegetables, or to the side of regional culinary specialties. Corsican honey, chestnuts, almonds, canistrellu, cold meats such as figatellu, panzetta, coppa, lonzu, panzarottu, salamu, prisuttu, sangui... But also cheeses such as cabrettu, brocciu, wild boar stews, migliacci, aziminu (Corsican bouillabaisse), sturza preti (small dumplings au gratin with brocciu and spinach), chestnut flans and local wines will satisfy the taste buds of gourmets passing through Moriani-Plage.
