Tranquillity, nature and landscapes typical of the Normandy coast make the small town of Créances a perfect place for a holiday away from the crowds. A change of scenery, and above all relaxing, this family destination has everything to seduce visitors in search of authenticity.
In the department of Manche, in the Normandy region, Créances takes place about twenty kilometres north of Coutances, in the Parc Naturel Régional des Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin. Bordered by the clear waters of the English Channel, just opposite the island of Jersey, Créances is the perfect place to stop if you like peace and quiet, long beaches and hiking. Staying at Créances is above all, let's face it, the best way to escape the crowds and the hot temperatures. Far, far away from the crowded seaside resorts of the South of France, Créances offers its holidaymakers a real Eden of tranquillity, breathable and sunny. To discover all its faces, head towards the heart of the village: walk along its wide streets to discover the Sainte-Trinité church and its fortified bell tower, the Notre-Dame du Buisson chapel, the oratory of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, the Château Blanc or the Manoir du Bellée. Marked by the war of 1914-1918, Créances is also known for its cave, an exact replica of the Lourdes cave, on the site of an ancient calvary, which we recommend you visit for its history as well as its beauty.
On the nature side, Créances offers its lucky visitors a wide range of ideas for green walks. If for hiking, the Brocq pond and the Hocquet pond are very nice options on foot or by bike, it is the Créances dunes that win all the votes for outdoor escapades. Embellished with several picnic areas, the dunes of Créances are certainly its most beautiful asset: opt for a walk between "mielles" (dunes cultivated for market gardening, where the carrots of Créances grow), sand dunes and harbour, to discover all that makes the charm of this small seaside resort so attractive. It is also there, from the dunes, that an unobstructed view over the west coast of the Cotentin, but also over the harbour of Saint-Germain-sur-Ay awaits you, with some beautiful encounters: migratory birds, amphibians and breeding birds have their habits in the area. Some beautiful walks are also to be made from the Pointe du Becquet to the mouth of L'Ay, not to miss anything of the splendour of the Creole coastline.
On the beach side, Créances, wide open on the Channel, has more than one trick up its sleeve. Natural, adorned with high dunes, the main beach named "Printania beach" is both wild and family oriented. Offering an unobstructed view of the open sea and the nearby resorts, it will be perfect for your swimming sessions as well as for bubbling in the sun.
Finally, before leaving Créances, a few sites, all less than an hour away, are worth the detour to discover the splendours of Normandy. Granville, Gouville-sur-Mer and its small colourful cabins by the sea, but also Pirou and its castle or Barfleur are to be added to your list of visits.
Utah Beach and its museum: top. Moreover, we had been able to go see it with our dog (in stroller). Which could not be the case for the Cité de la Mer in Cherbourg. Too bad...
