Now known as the new commune of La Haye, La Haye-du-Puits is located in the Manche department. In the south-west of the Cotentin peninsula, in the Regional Natural Park of the Cotentin and Bessin Marshes, the commune is close to the town of Lessay, 24 kilometres from Carentan, and 29 kilometres from Coutances. Nestled in the heart of a region with a rich history, the town of La Haye boasts an important heritage, which you can discover during your walks or bike rides. What to see? The church of Saint-Jean l'Évangéliste, without a doubt, for its imposing architecture and its rich decorations. There are many churches in the area of The Hague over the centuries, more than a dozen in all, which you can take the time to visit. But undoubtedly what is worth the detour in La Haye, are the remains of the dungeon and the medieval castle of La Haye-du-Puits. A former 11th century fortified castle built on a motte, it still boasts a fascinating dungeon over 6 metres high which will take you back to the time of the knights. Just opposite, you can discover a second castle: that of the Magnevilles. A 16th century building with a square tower flanked by a high turret, it has beautiful buildings and a Renaissance portal that is well worth a visit. The Château de Saint-Rémy, the remains of the old Baudreville castle, or the manor house (16th century) and the Château de Surville will complete your visit to the La Haye area.

The Hague is also a small nature paradise. The dune massif of Allonne and the harbour of Surville are both part of the site of community importance of the Littoral Ouest Cotentin, within the framework of the Natura 2000 protection, and are two sites particularly popular with walkers. Protected, these natural places of surprising beauty will offer you beautiful walks, both in the early morning and at sunset, when the sky is tinged with amazing colors, which change constantly with the seasons. On the beaches of Denneville, easily accessible from the heart of The Hague, you can indulge in all your favourite water sports: swimming, relaxing in the sun, fishing, sailing, sea kayaking, paddle and other lunches with your feet in the water will undoubtedly give your Normandy stay a magical taste.
