To the south-east of Perpignan, facing the great blue, Argelès Plage invites you to enjoy a unique setting in the heart of the Pyrénées Orientales. Between beaches, pine forest, authentic village, hiking trails and dazzling landscapes, you can multiply activities and discover the rich Catalan heritage.
Bordered by the Mediterranean and the Pyrenean foothills, Argelès Plage is an ideal destination for nature and sea lovers. On the long sandy beach or on the rocky coast, you will inevitably find your little piece of paradise. You can then spend long hours relaxing, throwing yourself into the water or practising numerous activities : diving, pedal boat, paddle, kayak, sailing, windsurfing, parachuting, walking and sea fishing... To enjoy the Côte Radieuse and the Côte Vermeille in a different way, you can also take the coastal path which will take you, in grandiose landscapes, to the Spanish border.
After enjoying the pleasures of the sea, set off to discover Argelès-sur-Mer. This typical Catalan village will seduce you by its small streets, its houses with soft colors, its ramparts, its church Notre-Dame del Prat with its crenellated tower and its traditional market. Then admire the castle of Valmy, built in the late nineteenth century in an Art Nouveau style, and that of Pujol, dating from the thirteenth century and listed as historic monuments. Walking or cycling along the many paths that criss-cross the resort, you can also discover the oldest monuments in the region : dolmens whose construction dates back to the earliest age of metals.
During your stay in Argelès Plage, also offer yourself some escapades in the surroundings. Along the coast towards the Spanish border, stop in Collioure to admire its exceptional natural setting and its royal castle, in Port-Vendres to see its many historical monuments (obelisk, redoubts...), in Banyuls, to appreciate its Romanesque church of the Rectorie, its marine nature reserve and its famous wines. Then go to Perpignan to visit the palace of the Kings of Majorca, the Hyacinthe-Rigaud museum and take advantage of your lunch breaks to taste all the flavours of Catalan cuisine : shellfish, cod brandade, anchovies from Collioure, boles de picolat, trinchat, xuixos with Catalan cream...

At 11 boulevard de la Mer, I highly recommend the restaurant "Thai Siam": excellent cuisine and a good choice of dishes, very nice people. The beach is also very close and very pleasant. On the other hand, I didn't appreciate at all the fact that the casino parking lot was prohibited for 3 days (from 23/08 to 25/08) for a one-day show on 25/08. My vehicle was impounded on 23/08 at 7:15 am. There was indeed a sign on the side indicating the prohibited parking but not on big days, it was necessary to read the municipal by-law below the sign and to read article 4 which specifies the dates. When I saw the sign I read the most legible one specifying the traffic and parking regulations for Sunday 25/08. I couldn't read the rest (written too small) because I had just bathed and didn't have my glasses. Moreover, I did not at all appreciate the municipal police who ordered the removal of 20 vehicles and only had 4 removed, so the 16 others benefited from the leniency of these gentlemen. This non-reading of a decree, cost me 125 €.

Bakery at the top at the entrance of Argeles (open from 4am with the possibility of having breakfast). "Le Pin du Sud", a path that runs along the sea to the beach centre, is very pleasant. You can see the fireworks from the beach.

Recommended: the 1 euro bus of the region to visit the whole coast. The restaurant "Bécassine" for its quality and price ratio.
