In the department of Seine-Maritime, in Normandy, La Poterie-Cap-d'Antifer is located just next to Étretat. Less known than its famous neighbor and a little less frequented, it offers to contemplate crazy panoramas on this coast, the Côte d'Albâtre, famous for its marvelous chalk cliffs which have by history inspired many artists and legends.

For a long time an agricultural territory, this bocage commune has known through history many invasions, English and Norman, but it is during the Second World War that it became famous, during the destruction of a German radar by an alliance of British parachutists and Norman resistance fighters, during the operation Biting. Its lighthouse was destroyed during this period, before being rebuilt in 1949; with its impressive dimensions, the Lighthouse of Antifer, also called the Lighthouse of the Pottery, is a large octagonal tower of no less than 38 meters high, which looks out to sea from its perch at 130 meters high. Although it cannot be visited, the lighthouse, which boasts the title of "highest lighthouse in Europe", offers beautiful panoramic views from its foot, and is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful postcards of La Poterie-Cap-d'Antifer. Full of charm, this city of Upper Normandy seduces by its authentic setting and its emblematic heritage of the Caux valley. What to see? The Saint-Martin church! Built in the 12th century, then rebuilt in the 17th century, it has kept from its past a beautiful cornice with grimacing heads that amuse parents and children.

But what definitely seduces in La Poterie-Cap-d'Antifer, is its nature. A delight for the eyes, the Alabaster Coast is dotted with a whole host of hiking trails, perfect for both leisurely walkers and sports enthusiasts who will be delighted to take on the magnificent chalk cliffs that adorn the coastline! For aquatic activities, head for the beach of Antifer: surrounded by cliffs, it is loved by onlookers for its relaxing setting, but also by swimmers who come to take advantage of its clear waters for a few refreshing swims.
