Perched in the heart of Provence, Callian has everything you need for a perfect holiday under the sun. Historical, cultural and exotic, this small village in the middle of the mountains offers a perfect setting for holidaymakers in search of authenticity and adventure.
About thirty minutes from the wonderful beaches of Mandelieu-la-Napoule, Callian, a perched village in Provence, overlooks the fertile plains between the northern pre-Alps and the high red mountains of the Esterel massif. Organized around a splendid feudal castle established at an altitude of more than 580 meters, Callian is one of those typical villages of Provence that invite you to stroll tirelessly. One of the most popular destinations in the Pays de Fayence, Callian fascinates by the beauty of its flowered staircases as well as for its old alleys spread out all around its wide rocky peak. Some sites are worth a visit, such as its emblematic castle, but also its church Notre-Dame de l'Assomption, built in 1675. Particularly original, it stands out from the traditional architecture of the village thanks to its bell tower with a roof of singularly coloured glazed tiles. A second castle takes place on the village grounds, that of Goerg: located near the town centre, it is worth a visit for the beauty of its wooded park where visitors and regulars alike come to stroll in peace and quiet. Historically very religious, the commune also has many small chapels, mostly built between the 10th and 13th centuries, but also fountains and houses with splendid facades, especially in the historic heart of the village. One chapel is worth the detour: the Saint-Barthélemy chapel. Bequeathed to the city by the couturier Christian Dior, it is classified as a Historic Monument for the painted wooden panels that line its interior and high vault.
What will you like about Callian? Its Calm, and its side particularly favourable to rest. But the commune is also prized for its green setting, ideal for hiking through its hills perfumed with the scent of oak and coniferous trees. Head north of the village, for beautiful walks in the three valleys of the Haute-Siagne, along the eponymous river. If during the summer period this place is worth the detour, we can only recommend you to discover it also in January, when the mimosa tints the massifs with a bright yellow and perfumes them with its delicate perfume. One site is particularly popular with families and nature lovers: Lake Saint-Cassien. Considered as one of the most beautiful jewels of the eastern Var, in the heart of the thick forests of the Esterel massif, this absolutely magnificent lake is the charming asset of your holidays in Callian. Situated just ten minutes from the heart of the village (6 kilometres away), this superb lake seduces as much for its postcard setting as for its landscaped banks. Guinguettes, beaches and other pedal boat and windsurfing board hire stands will delight young and old alike. Farniente, water activities, market, mountain biking or swimming, this lake will suit all your desires under the Var sun.
