An authentic destination in the heart of the Massif des Maures and the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, only 10 kilometres from the most beautiful beaches of Sainte-Maxime, Plan de la Tour is a typical Provençal village that enjoys an exceptionally pleasant climate and an atmosphere typical of the small towns of southern France.

A haven of peace rich in tradition, Plan de la Tour thrives in a quiet setting amidst flowering hills, oak forests, broom, fragrant mimosa and pine forest. Its small village is not very large, but it still deserves a walk in its alleys to discover its fountains, its presbytery, its bell tower, its weighbridge, its Emponse district and its cobbled streets, but also its old wells and its Saint-Martin church dating from the 19th century. The Saint Pierre Chapel is one of the curiosities of the commune : when it was in ruins, it saw a large fig tree growing in its stones and during its restoration, and this pretty originality remained intact. Stop for a refreshing break in the shade of the plane trees on Place Foch, where every Thursday you can go shopping in search of fresh, typically local produce : white nougat, anchoïade, cachaille, panisse, fougasse, tapenade, tarte tropézienne, but also crustaceans and fresh fish such as sea bass, sardines, favouille (sea crab) and capon... Tastings of wines and local products will certainly please the most gourmet holidaymakers.

Surrounded by the beauty of the landscapes of the Massif des Maures, Plan de la Tour is the perfect starting point for beautiful hikes. Whether you are on foot, on horseback or by bicycle, the commune and its surroundings are teeming with paths arranged so that young and old can walk without difficulty through the generous nature which surrounds the village. From Plan de la Tour to Colle Dure through the steep paths criss-crossing the plateau, you can enjoy over 15 kilometers of magnificent views over the Gulf of Saint Tropez and the plain of the Moors with changing colors according to the seasons. The walk on the "Gorgues path" is ideal for the whole family: 5 kilometres long in the direction of Sainte-Maxime, it will allow you to discover all the beauty of the Plantourian vineyard, the forests and the neighbouring hamlets. Climb to Sen Pire (416 metres above sea level) and to the heights of the hamlet of La Forge for a breathtaking panorama of Plan de la Tour and the surrounding vineyards. Several routes also cross the Massif de l'Esterel from Fréjus to Bagnols-en-Forêt, via Le Muy and the Pic de l'Esterel for climbers. Mountain bike enthusiasts will not be outdone since the region is also marked by a myriad of cycle routes accessible at all levels, linking Grimaud to Saint Pons les Mures via Plan de la Tour.

Land of tradition, you will love the petanque competitions, the designer markets and the annual festivals that mark the life of Plan de la Tour : votive festivals, olive oil fair, donkey festival, vineyard festival, flower corsos and cultural festivals make the streets and squares of the village vibrate in summer and winter. Not to be missed : the corso de la bruyère, between March and April. During this very old annual festival, floats are beautifully decorated with flowers and heather before parading throughout the commune for the happiness of young and old.

Just a few steps from the sea and the superb beaches of Sainte-Maxime, Plan de la Tour allows holidaymakers who enjoy water sports activities to practice their favourite sports under the emblematic Mediterranean sun : if the beaches and coves of Sainte-Maxime are adored by families who would flee the "bling-bling" side of the beaches of Saint Tropez, they are also perfect to learn flyboard, catamaran, canoe-kayak, jet-skiing, surfing or even climbing parachute for the most intrepid holidaymakers, who will then have the chance to admire the Côte d'Azur and its hills from the air.
