On the Costa Blanca, Javea (Xabia in Valencian) is a tourist paradise full of history. The reputation of its coastline, which stretches over twenty kilometers, is no longer to be done. The beach of the Arsenal, in particular, is a must-see point for holidaymakers. Many shops and services have chosen to live on the promenade in front of the sea. It takes full life at dusk and becomes the landmark of the young (and the youngest) vacationers who stroll through the early morning.

Another area not to be missed is the Old Town, a vestige of medieval times. Its narrow streets have preserved their old-world charm and give the impression of having traveled in time. It is the ideal place to approach the history of Javea. The fortified church of San Bartolomé, architecture of Gothic Isabelin style, was erected between the 14th and the 16th century. In addition to its religious functions, this massive monument also defended the Valencian coasts of attacks by privateers. The Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum Soler Blanco, located in the ancient residence of Antoni Banyuls, close to King Philip III, allows to discover the origins of the municipality through an astonishing collection from the underwater archeology of Javea.

To enjoy the many activities organized by the town, it is necessary to go to the district of Duanes de la Mar. Renowned for its port and for the church of Nuestra Senora de Loreto, monument of avant-garde inaugurated in 1961, the district sees a multitude of events and festivities take place throughout the year. It must be said that in terms of holidays, Javea is never left behind. In summer, the International Festival joyfully animates the streets of the town. During the month of December, the town adorns itself with Christmas attire until the famous parade of the Three Wise Men on January 5th.

Thanks to its geographical position, Javea enjoys a rich and varied gastronomy. The proximity of the orchards of Sant Bartolomeu and the development of the local fishing are at the origin of a tasty kitchen. Restaurant El Gaucho, which handles Spanish dishes as well as South American specialties, offers a very good value for money.

"La Siesta" is our undeniable favorite of Javéa: welcome, setting, atmosphere at the foot of the beach... do not leave the city without stopping there!

Recommended: "L'Atalaya" (the bar and the restaurant) because of its top location facing the sea and its friendly service. Also: the "La Tagliatella" pizzeria facing the sea for its very fine pizzas. Calpe, Altéa and Moraira: nice cities nearby.
