The Costa Cálida did not receive this name by chance. This coastline in the region of Murcia, a community in southern Spain, enjoys a very mild climate with little precipitation and an average temperature of 27 ° C in the summer. Founded by the Muslims in 831 under the name of Mursiya, the beautiful capital of Murcia has always been very cosmopolitan. Nestled in the heart of the Segura River valley, its old pedestrianized town is the ideal place to discover splendid buildings from different eras. In the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga stands the majestic Cathedral of Santa María, a 15th century architecture built in the Castilian Gothic style. His tower, on the other hand, is a perfect fusion of several artistic influences due to enlargements realized over the centuries. A few steps away is the casino, an emblematic monument dating back to 1847. It is a great protagonist of the social life of Murcia. The great historical city of the coast is Cartagena. As its name indicates, it is a Carthaginian general who is at the origin of its foundation in 230 BC. J-C. Twenty years later, the Romans occupy the city which becomes "Carthago Nova", one of the largest Roman cities of the Iberian Peninsula. It was then Visigoth, Arabic and Christian, which left a beautiful architectural legacy. The surrounding ramparts, called Muralla del Mar, bear witness to the military importance of the city. Recent research (90s) has brought to light the ruins of one of the greatest theaters in Roman Spain. This grandiose site has been buried for centuries by the civilizations that have succeeded it. It is now accompanied by a museum that exhibits the many treasures found during the excavations. Cartagena is also a glorious maritime past. You will not miss the National Museum of Underwater Archeology, home to the greatest treasure found in the deep water of the world. This spoil of 570,000 pieces of gold and silver comes from the Spanish ship Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes, sunk by the British in 1804.

Enthusiasts of festivities and farniente, go to Águilas ! This port community developed under Charles III has more than 30 kilometers of coastline. Its golden beaches are much appreciated by locals and holidaymakers who come to relax on the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean.
