North of the lush island of Majorca, Muro offers an exceptional setting for a peaceful holiday. By the sea, you can enjoy an exceptional climate to discover its fabulous heritage and incredible natural environment.
With its long wooden pontoon that seems to defy the sea, the beach of Muro is one of the most famous of Majorca and perhaps the most represented on the postcards. In the idyllic setting of the Bay of Alcúdia, it stretches for more than 5.5 kilometres and plunges into the Mediterranean with a slight slope. Ideal for swimming, especially for children, its clear and shallow waters also invite you to dive to discover superb sea beds lined with posidonia. But many other activities await you such as sailing, windsurfing, surfing or, if you wish to take to the sea, visiting Alcúdia Bay aboard a boat.
Muro is one of the oldest cities in Majorca and has a very rich heritage. While walking, you will appreciate its large bourgeois houses and its many historical monuments. Discover the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste, built from 1570, with its superb rose window and its imposing belfry built on seven levels. But also visit the convent of Saint-Anne (1560), the oratory of La Sang (15th century) and the arenas built in an old sandstone quarry. Another essential site of the city is the ethnographic museum. Located in the imposing Casa Alomar, it houses an important collection of tools, domestic objects, furniture and traditional costumes that evoke the rural life of Majorca at the beginning of the 20th century.
Nature lovers and hikers will also be delighted by their stay in Muro because the municipality is home to one of the most beautiful natural parks in Majorca, that of S'Albufera. The largest wetland area on the island, the park is home to a huge lagoon, numerous canals and swampy areas. While walking along its paths, you will be able to appreciate its fauna and flora so particular and you will be able to observe nearly 270 species of birds since specially arranged huts of observation. But also take advantage of your holiday in Muro to visit the beautiful city of Palma and discover all the flavours of Mallorcan cuisine : soups, fries, calderata de langouste, sobrasada mallorquina, crema tostada...
