During the winter season, Sweden assumes its status of northern country and invites you to indulge in many winter sports. You can go skiing, ice skating on countless frozen lakes, go snowmobiling in Lapland or cross large expanses of powder in a dog-drawn sleigh. In the spring or summer, hike the legendary Royal Road or the beautiful skate trails, explore the west coast by kayak or explore the islands of Finnhamn, Grinda or Sandhamm by boat. But do not miss the opportunity to enjoy windsurfing, kite surfing or rafting down the Storfallet or river Klarälven.
Then go to explore the major cities of Sweden. The capital, Stockholm, is certainly among the most beautiful cities in the world. With the medieval district of Riddarholmen Island, Gamla Stan, Riddarfjärden Bay and the Djurgärden Canal, it offers many walking places. During your strolls you can enjoy the town hall, the Vasa museum, the Gröna Lund amusement park and the brand new ABBA museum. Also take time to visit the Nationalmuseum (Arcimboldo, Goya, Renoir...) and Moderna museet (Munch, Kandinsky, Picasso...). In the outskirts of the capital, you can also enjoy beautiful getaways to visit Drottningholm Castle and Skogskyrkogärden Cemetery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The other three largest cities in Sweden also deserve all your attention. In Gothenburg, stroll through the city center and enjoy the Gustavi cathedral, the pretty wooden houses and the Museum of Fine Arts. In Malmö, enjoy the proximity of Copenhagen, connected by the Öresund Bridge, and admire the medieval castle of Malmöhus, St. Petri Church and the famous opera house. North of Stockholm, the city of Uppsala also attracts with its cathedral, university, the oldest in Scandinavia, and its necropolis of the sixth century.
