Looking for a nature getaway? Escape, fresh air and dynamism? Guillestre, in the Hautes-Alpes, seems the perfect place for a mountain holiday in summer and winter.

Gateway to the Queyras Natural Park, on the borders of the Vars and Durance valleys, Guillestre takes its name from the stream that waters it, the Guil. A privileged passage between Briançon and Embrun, this charming village is located at an altitude of 1000 metres. With its narrow streets, old districts, old towers, high gates and ramparts, Guillestre reveals to its visitors incomparable panoramas of the mountains of the Hautes-Alpes such as Mount Viso, Pic d'Asti, the crest of the Taillante and the Pain de Sucre.

During the winter, when the mountains of Guillestrois are covered with their thick white coat, Guillestre is the perfect place to stay to attack the ski slopes between 858 and 3385 metres above sea level. It is on the White Forest ski area (including the resorts of Risoul and Vars) that skiers and snowboarders meet: nordic skiing, sledging, off-piste skiing, handiskiing, ice skating, biathlon, snowshoeing through the larch forest, snowboarding, initiation to dog sled driving... and alpine skiing, of course ! The estate has a total of 115 trails spread over 185 kilometres, with 18 green, 49 blue, 38 red and 10 black trails in detail. Enough to satisfy novices in this field as well as the most experienced skiers, without forgetting families thanks to several play areas adapted to the youngest ones.

If there is one emblematic place in Guillestre, winter and summer alike, it is obviously the Col de Vars: perched at an altitude of 2109 metres, this mythical pass is well known to cyclists and Tour de France fans. It is just after another legendary pass: the ascent of the Izoard, on the commune of Arvieux. Finally, the Agnel pass on Molines-en-Queyras will offer cycling enthusiasts beautiful sensations with incomparable panoramas at an altitude of 2744 metres on the neighbouring Mont Viso. In addition to these views of the valleys, Col Agnel is the starting point for many hiking trails, which will take you to Lake Foréant (2618 metres) and Lakes Baricle (2415 metres) and Égorgéou (2394 metres), three splendid high lakes worth a visit. During this stay, nearly forty marked and secure trails await walkers, across the Durance Valley, the Queyras Regional Natural Park and the Guillestrois. Cani-hiking, donkey rides, fishing, trekking, climbing, mountaineering, via ferrata, summer tobogganing, helicopter flight over Guillestre, swimming in the lake of Eygliers, trail... You will have only the embarrassment of choice to spend your days under the sun guillestrin! Finally, as for summer activities, the inventory does not stop there: Guillestre will offer you the opportunity to practice a wide range of water sports over the 25 kilometres of Le Guil: initiation to rafting in the valleys of Château-Queyras, kayaking trips to the triple falls of the Chapelue valley, canoeing, hydrospeed, white water swimming... What a thrill for fans!
