The lake is relaxing and can be visited around.

Top start of the new ski season! Fall skiers can already go to the mythical glacier of the Grande Motte de Tignes to enjoy the first snow. The Perce-Neige funicular, the panoramic chairlift, the Grande Motte cable car and the Champagny cable car are open to the public, so that you can quickly access the glacier. To be able to visit the rest of the estate connected with Val d'Isère, you will have to wait until November 30.

On Halloween, Tignes offers children of all ages a day of thrills in the heart of the resort, specially decorated for the occasion! On the agenda? Disguised skiing on the Grande Motte glacier from 7:30 am, creative workshops for children (2pm - 6pm), make-up stands, let's dive into the pool (blood red, brrrrrr!) of the Lagoon, then festive evening from 6pm, with DJ and pool party... To the delight of ski fans, skiing has resumed on the Grande Motte glacier. Until August 4 for skiers and until August 30 for walkers, you can enjoy the snow in summer on one of the most beautiful glaciers in France. Easily accessible thanks to the brand new cable car from the resort of Tignes (with a panoramic terrace), the Grande Motte glacier will delight skiers, hikers and other holidaymakers in search of freshness. Count 35€ per adult, 28€ per child, 20€ per pedestrian.

Discover the mountain perched at an altitude of more than 3400 meters? In any case, this is what the resort of Tignes has been offering since this summer. Thanks to its brand new cable car with a panoramic rooftop, the highest in the world ever inaugurated, Tignes intends to attract more and more curious people. This large cabin, which can accommodate a hundred people, will offer 20 lucky people the opportunity to climb onto its terrace to enjoy 360° views of the Savoyard mountains, from Mont-Blanc to the Grande Motte glacier. This spring, the station is hosting a new edition of "Live in Tignes by Francofolies"! From 16 to 19 April 2019, three days of totally free concerts in the unique setting of the Tignes mountains await ski and music lovers. And the program has just been unveiled: Clara Lucciani, Gaëtan Roussel, Skip The Use, Cats On Trees, Boulevard des Airs and Charlie Winston in particular will be on hand to get the skiers to swing from 14h30 to 22h30.

As it has done every year since 2008, the resort organises its European Snow Pride. This major festive week dedicated to LGBT communities across Europe will be held from 16 to 23 March 2019, in the heart of the resort. On the agenda? Ski and snowboard lessons, visits to Tignes and its surroundings on skis, "after ski" and wild evenings with the best DJ's of the moment. The fifth Gay Pride will be held on Sunday, March 17.

For the 3rd year, Tignes is organising its Indoor Athletics Open, a must-attend event for the greatest athletes in the discipline. First indoor meeting of the season for all top athletes, it is the international event not to be missed for champions who will compete in sprint, triple jump, long jump and pole vault events. This year, the competition will feature Renaud Lavillenie, current world indoor pole vault champion and world record holder (6.16 metres). This year, on New Year's Eve, Tignes invites you to dance to the sound of pop-rock music. In partnership with RTL2, the resort offers you an unforgettable New Year's Eve on an open-air dancefloor in the heart of the slopes. Rendez-vous Monday, December 31 at 11pm (warmly covered) at 2100 metres above sea level on the snow front of Tignes le Lac for a festive and free concert, followed by a giant firework display fired at the first twelve strokes of midnight.

The weekend of Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 November will mark the start of the winter season in Tignes, with the opening of its large ski area linked to the resort of Val d'Isère. While the Grande Motte glacier has been accessible since October 17, the very first activities will begin this weekend, including the Stars of Sport (a project bringing together future top sports stars and the greatest French champions at events from November 25 to 30), but also the "Yeti Race", an obstacle trail combining 10 kilometres of obstacle course, rifle shooting and log sawing in a fun race.

> The 2019 Tour de France stops in Tignes (08-11-2018) :

It is likely that it is in the Alps, during the penultimate mountain stage of the 2019 Tour de France that the riders will try to win. And it will take a lot of courage for them to face the 19th stage of the Tour, which will connect Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne to Tignes on July 26th. On the agenda? The ascent of the Aussois ascent (a 6% slope), the Iseran pass, (the "Tour roof" culminating at an altitude of 2770 metres), and finally the ascent of Tignes and its difference in altitude of more than 7 kilometres.

> Tignes celebrates Halloween on its slopes! (25-10-2018) :

The weekend of October 27th on the slopes of Tignes, the atmosphere will be festive! To celebrate Halloween, witches, magicians and other zombies dressed in their best clothes will take to the slopes of the resort from 2pm. On the agenda? Making magic wands, make-up workshop, pumpkin carving, film projection, skiing on the Grande Motte glacier, insect tasting (!) in Tignespace and a disguised evening on the theme "El dia de los muertos" ("The day of the dead") to the sound of dancefloors: thrills guaranteed.

> Tignes: the Grande Motte glacier is finally accessible (24-10-2018) :

Initially scheduled for September 29, the opening of the Grande Motte glacier in Tignes was several weeks overdue. Perched at an altitude of 3456 metres, this glacier, well known to snowboarders and top skiers, had its ski lifts laid off due to insufficiently cold temperatures and the absence of the first autumn snow. Everything is (finally) back in order on October 17: the glacier is accessible for the first slides of the season!

> The highest cable car in the world? (16-10-2018) :

"Terrace cable car": quèsaco? To find out, you will have to wait until next summer in Tignes. Instead of admiring the landscape in the enclosed space of the cable car, you can now climb on the roof of the cable car! From a small panoramic cabin that can accommodate around twenty people, you can enjoy a breathtaking 360° view. In summer only... because at 3000m altitude (and at a speed of 10m/sec), we quickly turn into ice cubes!
