In one of the most beautiful gulfs in the world, south of Ajaccio, Porticcio is an ideal destination for a holiday full of change of scenery and rest. Between sea and mountain, under the soft Mediterranean sun, you will be able to practise many nautical activities but also to discover an enchanting hinterland.
A seaside resort in the pretty town of Grosseto-Prugna, Porticcio has an exceptional coastline with long sandy beaches and numerous small coves. You will first enjoy an incomparable view of the Sanguinaires islands and the other side of the gulf where Ajaccio reveals its citadel and its pretty port. But you can also entertain yourself by devoting yourself to many water sports : sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, jet-skiing, flyboarding, kayaking... If you dream of escaping, offer yourself a boat cruise along the magnificent shores of South Corsica or join the Sanguinaires islands for an incredible exploration of its seabed.
Then set off to discover the fabulous heritage of the town. In the resort of Porticcio, enjoy the Genoese towers of Capitello, Isolella and Frassu that always seem to watch the marine horizons. In the hamlet of Prugna you can see the 16th century fortified houses and the beautiful 18th century fountain. In the hamlet of Vignale, let yourself be charmed by the splendour of many old houses. Finally, in the village of Grosseto, admire the recently renovated Saint-Césaire church with its beautiful bell tower topped by an octagonal dome. Inside, you can contemplate beautiful sculptures (Virgin with Child, Saint Matthew and the Angel...) and beautiful paintings (Way of the Cross, flagellation of Christ).
Starting point (or arrival point) of the Mare e Monti south hiking trail, Porticcio also invites you to discover the varied and enchanting landscapes of Corsica. By taking this route for a few kilometres, you will reach the Buselica pass from where you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view. But also take the time to visit Ajaccio, the "imperial city", to follow in Napoleon's footsteps (museum of the Bonaparte House, cathedral, memorial), and Propriano for its magnificent marina and its church Notre-Dame de la Miséricorde. Back in Porticcio, settle down facing the sea, on the terrace of a restaurant, and taste all the local flavours : sea urchins, cold meats, cheeses (casgiu, brocciu...), Corsican wines...
