In the department of Ain, in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Massignieu-de-Rives is a real little paradise on earth. The village of Massignieu-de-Rives is located in the natural region of Bugey, right on the banks of the Lac du Lit au Roi, a widening of the Rhône river. A few steps away from the Lac du Bourget and the ski resorts of Savoie, the village spread out between 220 and 494 meters of altitude blossoms in the heart of a wine region, of AOC Bugey wines. A rural destination, very sparsely populated, it delights visitors with the diversity of its landscapes. Inhabited for centuries, the commune's origins date back to the 2nd millennium BC, as evidenced by traces of occupation found on the lake side. Of this ancient past, Massignieu-de-Rives has some traces, including prehistoric remains on the side of Lake Bart, but also more recently a 17th century convent, the splendid Lucey Bridge that spans the Rhone and will lead you to Lucey, or the Pont du Lit au Roi. In terms of natural heritage, Massignieu-de-Rives also has something to take you on a journey thanks to several classified sites such as the Haut-Rhône from Chautagne to the Virignin waterfalls (Natura 2000), or the Cliff of Musin. Moreover, by crossing the Rhône towards Lucey, you will be able to discover its magnificent castle in the heart of the vegetation! The Lavoir des Écrivieux, the chapel of Saint-Roch, the communal oven, the church of Saint-Martin, the Paccard fountain in front of the town hall and the old castle, seat of the Écrivieux seigniory in the 14th century, will complete the visit of the village.

In terms of infrastructure, young and old alike can enjoy a leisure centre on the lake, but also a marina and a beach, the star of every summer in Massignieu-de-Rives. Here, everything invites the visitor to go to the lake, where the visitor will be able to marvel at the beauty of the water, and the green valleys and other mountains that draw a real postcard decor changing with the seasons. Around the lake, cycling enthusiasts will have the opportunity to ride along the ViaRhôna, which offers sportsmen and women wonderful landscapes to discover, from Cressin-Rochefort to the Bugey vineyards, via the Parves lookout (at an altitude of 400 metres) and the Grand Colombier massif. If the hikers can also enjoy magnificent panoramas, it is from the lake that the discovery is breathtaking: from the port, you can embark on small boats, or opt for more sporty strolls in canoe or pedal boat, according to your desires, in order to discover the Lake of Lit au Roi from every angle!
