Known for its jazz festival in July, Antibes was the resort of many artists, such as Picasso who liked to put his easel there to immortalize the beauty of the places.

Start your stay with a visit of the old town of Antibes : along its ramparts erected in 1710 by architect Vauban, you will discover the rich historical heritage of this ancient medieval village. On the Saint-Roch peninsula, you will be able to observe the Fort Carré : its round path offers a panoramic view on Antibes and its magnificent bay. Its pretty park with the typically Mediterranean fauna and flora is worth a look : in this preserved environment of 4 hectares, squirrels, turtle-doves and red foxes cohabit in harmony in the middle of shrubs, trees and flowers with intoxicating scents. Classified as a historical monument, Fort Carré, which once witnessed the city's involvement in the military field, now houses a museum that you can visit throughout the year. Walk along its winding streets and head further south towards Grimaldi Castle : this former residence of the Monegasque family was transformed and converted into a museum dedicated to Picasso a few years ago. Very attached to this pretty seaside resort of the French Riviera, the painter would have stayed in this castle and would have realized there multiple works.

After visiting the city, take the time to relax on one of Antibes' beaches. The beach of La Salis, its white sand and its superb panorama on the turquoise sea and the mountains is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches of the coast. Very popular with holidaymakers during the summer holidays, it may be a bit complicated to find a place to plant your parasol. A few metres further, families and children will prefer the Ponteil beach : situated between the Vieil Antibes and the Cap d'Antibes, it runs alongside a lovely promenade on which young and old can cycle or rollerblade. Ponteil being totally reserved for bathers, parents and children will be able to swim in all serenity. It is also one of the prettiest beaches of the resort with the Gravette beach, located near Port Vauban. Surrounded by the ramparts, you will have from your towel an unobstructed view over the Cap d'Antibes. Ideal for families, it is easily accessible and close to downtown.

Things to do: the Cap d'Antibes, the visit of the Fort Carré (attention: closed on Mondays), the biscuit factory (on the road to Nice) and the old town. Discovery of a brand new bar-restaurant in the heart of the old town: "Le Provence" (6 rue Thuret): cocktails, tapas, ice creams...

For those who like to shop, it is necessary to go to the Polygone area in Cagnes sur Mer. I recommend the "Bistrot Téatro" (Avenue Jules Grec in Antibes) where people eat very well, and the staff is very friendly.

Don't forget to visit the superb village of Biot and its Fernand Léger museum. For the beach: take advantage of the proximity of the station to favour those of Juans-les-Pins or Madelieu-la-Napoule. In Antibes in summer, they are difficult to access.
