At the confluence of the Beaume, Chassezac and Ardèche rivers, Saint-Alban-Auriolles is the ideal destination for fans of the outdoors and nature. In addition to having a vast heritage, the municipality is able to satisfy all your sporting desires in a preserved setting.

A true haven of peace, Saint-Alban-Auriolles is above all a paradise for lovers of outdoor activities. Moistened by the Ardèche River, this city will delight aficionados of water hiking, canoeing, kayaking and rafting, all of which are popular activities in the region all year round. With a few strokes of paddles, it will be possible for you to reach the emblematic villages of the Ardèche, such as Salavas and Vallon-Pont-d'Arc, famous for its arch that crosses the river poetically, a privileged playground for hiking, trekking, white water sports, fishing, climbing and speleology. Also, during this stay, you will need to bring good shoes, since hiking is one of the most popular activities for holidaymakers. Many trails start from the village of Saint-Alban-Auriolles, such as the "Labeaume - Chapias" loop (10 kilometres), the loop around the Gorges de la Beaume (6 kilometres) or the routes leading to the Rocher de Sampzon, the Aven Marzal, the Grand Site de l'Aven d'Orgnac or the magnificent Château des Roure. The Gras limestone plateau overlooking the village is also perfect for excursions to the song of cicadas, whether on horseback, on foot or by mountain bike, amid thyme, boxwood and fragrant rosemary.

As for heritage, Saint-Alban-Auriolles is not to be outdone since it shelters prehistoric remains, dolmens (about fifty in all in the commune, the most famous of which is called the dolmen of Calvary), a good number of churches and other chapels and a castle. Named after the fortified cave on which its high keep was built, Château de Beaumefort dates back to well before the 15th century. With its imposing square tower and round towers, it is surmounted by a round path from which the views are breathtaking over the Cévennes, the Chassezac valley and a large part of the southern Ardèche. With the family, a few visits are particularly recommended: Mas Daudet, an authentic Ardèche farmhouse, is a must. You will discover all the art of the Ardèche of yesteryear, from the production of olive oil to alcohol, including the cultivation of chestnuts and silkworms. After visiting the house that was the residence of the author of the famous "Lettres de mon Moulin", do not miss its splendid park full of discovery trails for young and old alike. Finally, Labeaume's "suspended" gardens are also worth seeing: overhanging the wild meanders of the Baume River, these terraces arranged in the limestone will allow you to observe incomparable panoramas, striking in their beauty at sunrise and sunset.
