6 kilometres south of Lège-Cap-Ferret, facing Gujan-Mestras, La Teste-de-Buch and Arcachon, Andernos-les-Bains lies on the banks of the Arcachon Basin. This small, elegant seaside resort is not only a land of nature, but also a land of gourmet delights, and is full of assets to help you enjoy a wonderful holiday.

In the north of the Bay of Arcachon, between maritime pine forests, beaches and oyster ports, Andernos-les-Bains has something to make your head spin. Enjoying a particularly mild climate throughout the year, Andernos-les-Bains is an authentic, elegant and absolutely ideal destination for couples or families. Rich of a very ancient history, Andernos-les-Bains has a splendid architectural heritage. Along its narrow streets, the small white houses, with orange tiled roofs and windows decorated with blue shutters, will plunge you in an instant into the soul of the village. Take the time to stroll in the heart of the old village, a village which shelters vestiges of more than 2000 years, which you will be able to discover in particular by pushing the door of the Municipal Museum of Andernos-les-Bains, which lists prehistoric collections, but also Gallo-Roman found on the site of Bétey. Andernos-les-Bains is easy to visit on foot or by bike, so don't miss a walk along the railway dead end to see the Villa Factory built in 1927 in Victorian style, or a stopover in Place Louis David known for its former casino where giants of the French scene such as Johnny Hallyday, Joe Dassin, Georges Brassens, but also Josephine Baker or Claude François. The Villa Ignota (or Maison Louis David) is worth seeing for its elegant architecture typical of the sea bathing era, as are the Art Deco style Villa Martha-Fédérier, the Royal Hotel all in painted white, the Betey School (one of the oldest villas in the commune), the villas Les Genêts, the Hermitage, Riant Cottage, Aline, La Houle, Primrose, Myosotis and the Villa Mady. Visit the church of Notre-Dame de la Paix, famous for the works it houses, the superb Saint-Eloi church built on Gallo-Roman ruins, before making a detour via the promenade pier of Andernos-les-Bains. Built in 1926, it is the longest in France, advanced over 230 meters on the Bay of Arcachon. At the very end of this pier, during the day as well as at sunset, a marvellous panorama awaits you over the Cap-Ferret lighthouse and the whole of the Basin, studded with shacks and small splendid islands such as the Ile aux Oiseaux.

Also take time to have a good time at the Port du Bétey, at the Allègre lake (located on the former salt marshes), through the Aurélien de Sarrau park to discover the artesian wells from which the water gushes out, then go through the oyster port. A must during your holidays in Andernos-les-Bains, this picturesque port is a place where visitors love to stroll: with its colourful and flowery huts, a very special atmosphere emanates from it. If this place is perfect for a romantic stroll, it is also perfect for photography, and for tasting the famous oysters of the Bay of Arcachon!

Those for whom holidays rhyme with idleness and fan toes can opt for a boat trip, a crab fishing trip, or enjoy the beautiful beaches that border Andernos-les-Bains. On the Quinconces beach side, it is the authentic and wild beauty that will seduce visitors passing through, while the beaches of Bétey and the pier will be ideal for families. Sandcastle contests, paddle, kayaking, surfing, swimming, sailing, and many other activities will complete your stay on the Bay of Arcachon.
