At the foot of the Néouvielle Massif, surrounded by the Pic de Bugatet and the Pic de Montferrat, the winter sports resort of Piau-Engaly is located in the commune of Aragnouet, in the Pyrenees. Neighbouring Saint-Lary-Soulan, located in the Aure valley, it is the highest resort in the French Pyrenees. Perched at an altitude of 1860 metres, at the gateway to the Pyrenees National Park, this family ski resort above all else multiplies its assets to seduce holidaymakers looking for rest in the great outdoors. For beneath its air of a small, quiet resort, this dynamic destination proudly bears the title of "World's Snowiest Resort", a title it achieved in 2015. Here, there is something for everyone: whether you are a pedestrian, a skier, a contemplative mountain dweller or a snow sports enthusiast, Piau-Engaly will satisfy all your desires. Spread out between 1350 and 2528 metres above sea level, the resort's alpine ski area has 39 beautiful, largely snow-covered runs (65 kilometres in total), served by 11 ski lifts. The busiest slopes are accessible from Piau 1850, thanks to the detachable chairlifts "Pic du Piau" and "Engaly". The green slopes from the Mouscadès chairlift, but also the blue slopes such as the Combe du Pai, Badet or the Grande Bleue will be ideal for family skiing while enjoying breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains and the Pic du Midi de Bigorre in the distance. Seasoned skiers? The black slopes of Le Tétras, Soulecou or Les Perdraux will be perfect for good sensations in the heart of a dream setting. Note that a 1,200-metre slope runs down the entire ski area from the top: a must do!

On the freeride side, the Piau-Engaly resort has nothing to be ashamed of compared to its neighbour Saint-Lary-Soulan since it has become over the years a leading destination for freeride enthusiasts who come to enjoy its snow-covered slopes and modules. It has a snowpark, 4 secure areas for freeriding including the famous route from the Pic de Piau, as well as 22 kilometres of pistes for all levels. Other snow sports activities will also be to be discovered during this stay in Piau-Engaly: ice diving, biathlon, dog sleigh rides, snowshoe hiking, ice climbing and Nordic skiing on the Piau-Pineta area thanks to 4 circuits will perfect your holidays.

When the weather's nice, why not try yoga hiking or yoga snowshoeing? Young and old alike will find the perfect activity for their holidays: mountain biking, archery, trail thanks to 10 itineraries, meditation, via ferrata at the cliffs of Pène Haute and Suberpène, canyoning, paragliding over the Louron valley, rafting in the Aure valley or in the white canyons of the Sierra de Guara in Spain, trampoline and hiking will be on the program. Not much to report because of the Covid. Food store's closed. Otherwise we could've oxygenated and taken a walk.
