Located not far from Béziers, Portiragnes is appreciated for its traditions, its architecture and its picturesque side. You will fall under the charm of its old streets as well as its houses with impressive doors, built around the church Saint-Félix. Dating from the 12th century, this Gothic building, listed as a Historic Monument, is worth a visit. A popular destination for holidaymakers seeking a holiday in the sun, Portiragnes is nestled between vineyards and hills, and watered by the Canal du Midi. Labelled "green resort" since 2007, the commune admirably enhances its natural heritage : its wetlands (such as the Grande Maïre) will allow you to observe its mosaic of natural environments as well as the richness of the local fauna and flora. Making the link between the Portiragnes-village and Portiragnes-Plage, don't miss the Canal du Midi. Walk along its banks, and enjoy its 4 kilometres of cycle path in the shade of plane trees : the place is perfect for sporting or relaxing afternoons. We advise you to rent a boat, for a cruise to the rhythm of the waves of this tricentennial canal classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996 : Toulouse, Sète, Béziers or Carcassonne, here are as many cities that you can reach from Portiragnes via the Canal.
Once past the canal, here you are on the sea side : located 4 kilometres from the old village, the beaches of Portiragnes are undeniably family-friendly. Although they are less frequented than most of the large seaside resorts in the department, they are nevertheless located in a more natural and preserved environment than their neighbours. The "Western Beach" is wild and extensive : surrounded by several ponds, you will find a sailing school and space to plant your parasol in peace. The beach of "La Redoute" is the closest to the city centre : its clear waters call for swimming, and its wide sandbank invites to long idleness sessions. Hidden by the dunes, the beach of Le Bosquet, its picnic areas and its playgrounds for children is very popular with families, who come to spend long days, quiet and under the sun. You will also find a nautical base which will allow you to enjoy a wide range of activities: mono-skiing, towed buoy, wakeboard, paddle... : you will have only the embarrassment of the choice to occupy the afternoons of your portiragnaises holidays !
Finally, in the evening, life does not stop in Portiragnes : concerts, shows, fireworks, féria, Camargue shows, petanque competitions and "toro-piscine" will allow you to enjoy this holiday until the end of the night.

Nearby, 14 km away, the restaurant "Taj Mahal" in Béziers: Excellent in everything, reception, service, table decoration and especially the delicacy of the dishes! In Portiragnes: beaches in the town centre, the restaurant "Le Marie Jack": quality and quantity (both fish and meat)!
