The village of Saint-Chinian is located in the Occitanie region, in the Hérault department. 30 kilometers north of Béziers, between the sea and the mountains, this village in the Vernazobres valley is dominated by the first foothills of the Cévennes in the north of its territory, and by a rocky chain in the south. A rural territory occupied since Roman times, it is known for its Saint-Chinian appellation wines which have been seducing the taste buds of epicureans for years now. In the heart of the Biterrois hinterland, Saint-Chinian invites the visitor to get lost in its old streets; you will discover the shaded squares, the alleys studded with old plane trees under which it is good to walk during the summer heat, and its heritage! Also, take the time to discover the old Benedictine abbey of Saint-Chinian, built during the 9th century, and its cloister admirably renovated and classified by the Bâtiments de France. Its fountain and its garden will be a place of peace and quiet chosen for a rejuvenating and poetic interlude! Not far away, the church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Barthe is also worth a visit: damaged and then rebuilt after the religious wars, it is worth a visit for its classified organ from the very end of the 18th century, an organ with 1919 pipes whose singing resounds notably during concerts! Pass by the Salabert bread oven, the Abbot's canal, and let yourself be tempted by a little stopover at the Maison des Vins de Saint-Chinian! Wine lovers will be able to taste more than 300 different wines in moderation, participate in a wine workshop, and take advantage of the opportunity to do some shopping to bring back delicious souvenirs to sip with friends.

Hikers? Put on your sneakers and head for the Moulin du Rocher! Overlooking the village since 1854, the mill of Saint-Chinian, as if placed on its rock, offers from its promontory a magnificent panorama on the vineyard of Saint-Chinian, the village, but also the valley of Vernazobre and the Mont Caroux! During this walk, you will also discover in the heart of the fragrant scrubland a path along the capitelles, these small dry stone houses, typical of the local landscape. Another must-see? The Fontjun pass! From its orientation table, where picnicking is a real treat, you will discover a breathtaking panorama, different from that of the Moulin du Rocher, but just as captivating on the Grage mountains and the Caroux massif! Swimming pool, tennis, climbing on the cliffs of Notre-Dame de Nazareth, donkey rides, mountain biking (thanks to 6 marked trails), hiking or canoeing and kayaking on the Vernazobres river will complete this stay in the heart of the Saint-Chinian mountains.
